1840, Oran Goins was enumerated in the Lincoln County census with one male under five years; one male 20-30; and one female 20-30. This child must have died, because he is not listed in the 1850 census.

1850 census lists Orrin Goin, laborer, age 34; Anna, age 33; and Philip, age eight.

1860 census, Summers, Caldwell, NC, 44y. Listed as head of household. Living with him is brother Wiley, his Wiley's wife Ann and Wiley's daughter.

"THE GOINS FAMILY IN LINCOLN COUNTY, N. C.
My grandmother, Sarah Goins, told members of my family that Aaron Goins and his brother, Wiley, came to North Carolina from Virginia. Aaron, who was a millwright, married Ann Leonard, who is believed to be the daughter of Jacob Leonard. According to Grandmother, they had two children: Phillip and Ann Goins. Aaron, who lived in the "old Beam house," was killed by a tree while clearing a new ground.

My great aunt says that Aaron and Ann Goins had only one child whose name was Phillip. Ann died when my aunt, who was born in 1884, was about ten years old, so Ann died about 1894.

There is a marriage bond filed in Old Tryon-Lincoln County marriage bonds for Arren Goings (Goins) and Ann Leonard with Elisha W. Roderick and M. W. Abernathy, witness. The bond which is dated 10 January 1837 is published in Marriage Bonds of Old Tryon-Lincoln Counties, North Carolina by Curtis Bynum.

There is a bond dated 29 March 1866 for the marriage of Philip P. Goins To Elizabeth Smith. Daniel Reinhardt was the bondsman. The marriage was performed the same day by Daniel Siegle, JP. "

email from Linda Goins to David Goings, Feb 2002: "John Goins is Arren Goin's brother. also there is James, Wiley and Sarah. Philip Goins, Arrin's son, had a son named David A.L. Goins that is my line. Do you have any pictures from your line - old, old ones? I have one photo of David. I was told that Arrin died from a tree falling on him. That Arrrin and Wily came from VA. I wonder if I sent for the marriage records if it would state his parents."

David asked Linda Goins : "I am curious as to what documentation exists that connects John and Arron as brothers?" and she replied: "I have been writing Madge for awhile now, Madge also thinks they are related. if you look how many Goins was there in 1850 in NC.� Madge sent me a copy of her family of Philip Goins because she was from John Robert Goins and I was from David Albert Lee Goins the same family as Philip Goins. I'm working on where to find in VA they were from. which was your line. Maybe I can get info on Arron from a land grant. I hope so."

My wife's great grandaunt, Sadie Franzenbach married Burdette Nelson Foy about 1898 in either Oregon or Washington. After they married, they lived mostly in the Seattle area. They had 7 children. Sadie was the daughter of Caspar Franzenbach and Susanna Schmidt. Sadie was born 15 Aug 1878 in Cologne, Germany and died after being hit by a car about 1935 in Seattle, WA. Burdette Foy died on 8 Jan 1952
