Angeline Politano Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service - Bender Chapel - North Manchester on Nov. 9, 2023.

Angeline "Jean" Marie Politano, nee Mastellino, went to be with the Lord Jesus on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at the age of 84 years old. Jean was residing with her husband, Guido Politano, in North Manchester, Indiana where she passed away peacefully.
Jean was born on September 12, 1939 to Vincenzo and Lucia (Rivetti) Mastellino in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania to a growing family that already had five children. Jean became a whiz with numbers while helping her father in his little grocery store. Guido met Jean at Aliquippa High School but it was several years before he convinced her to marry him on September 2, 1961. They settled into a tiny apartment in Youngstown, Ohio while Guido finished college. Jean and Guido quickly started their own family as the first 3 children were born in close succession. Jean helped support the family with creative frugality. She helped Guido in his schooling by typing up his papers and listening to him explain complicated engineering concepts. Guido found promising employment in Anderson, Indiana where they moved in 1965. Ten years later in 1975, they moved to their forever home in Middletown, Indiana. It was a picturesque rolling 5 acres with a babbling brook in the back.
Jean excelled at being a homemaker, a wife and a mother. Guido and Jean had 5 children together. When the youngest child was mostly grown, Jean got a job in the kitchen at Valley Grove Elementary school where she worked for several years before going on to work in the kitchen at Highland High School. Jean was extremely proficient in the kitchen which she always kept neat and tidy. Her husband and children were blessed with delicious home cooked meals every day. Her spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread are legendary. She also loved to cook for and feed anyone who came to visit.
Jean loved to shop for her family. She kept extra pantry items she thought her grandchildren would enjoy. After a family get-together, she would encourage the grandchildren to get a plastic grocery bag and raid the pantry for sugar cereals, cookies, potato chips or anything else that looked yummy. Everyone knew about the generous stash of candy bars kept in the especially high cabinet in the upstairs kitchen. Jean's children were blessed with abundant food supplies at every visit.
Linda Neal faithfully and lovingly helped the family care for Jean for the past 6 years. In April 2020, Guido and Jean sold their house and moved in with their oldest son, Domenic, to be closer to family. After 62 years of marriage, Guido says that he thinks it's going to work out. What started in 1961 has grown to include 19 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. God has abundantly blessed the Politano clan!
Jean is survived by her husband, Guido Politano of North Manchester, Indiana; five children, Domenic (Sondra) Politano of North Manchester, Indiana, Lucille (Rob) Ziegler of Greenwood, Indiana, Carmin Politano, Angelica (Paul) Frommeyer of Batesville, Indiana, and Vincent (Joanna) Politano of Westville, Indiana; 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and four sisters, Mary Taormina, Fannie (Jim) Showrank, Lucy Coladonato, and Janet Anderson, all of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Tony Mastellino, Patsy Mastellino, and Lou Mastellino.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the North Manchester United Methodist Church, 306 E. 2nd Street, North Manchester, Indiana. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, Indiana. Friends may visit 4-7 pm Friday, November 10, 2023 at the church. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, North Manchester, Indiana.

email from grandson,Tod Carlini, Nov 2007: "I found your work on the Carlini family simply by accident and doing a search under Carlini. I have done this before but this is the first time I found the information you have assembled.
I am the grandson of Felix Carlini. My father was Todino. I live in Nevada as did my father and grandfather.
My grandfather passed away well before I was born. My father, Todino, Felix's son, passed away in June 2001 at the age of 75. His two sisters, Clara and Norma are still alive and live in Nevada as well.
I found the pictures you have included very interesting and have never seen them before. Even though I live 12 miles away from My Aunt Clara, we very seldom see each other. My Uncle Joe passed away about ten years ago in Roseville CA. He worked for the SPRR. My father was a very prominate educator and administrator in Nevada's public education system for 30 years.
Thank you so much for taking the time to assemble the information that you have...It was very emotional for me, yet very welcome to see and read.
Tod Carlini, Jr."

Mom unexpectedly went to Heaven on January 12th with family at her bed side. Thought our world has dimmed, she is now shinning her brightness with the Lord and those she loved in this world who have passed before her.
Born in Ely, Nevada to Italian immigrants, she was held back in school because she only spoke Italian. She and her four sisters and brothers were raised during the Depression which helped mold Mom into a strong, independent woman. After graduation from White Pine High School in 1940 she took a job in Washington D. C. with the Treasury printing department, printing posters for war bonds. Mom returned home to Ely upon the passing of her father in 1944. In 1946 she met our dad, John Macari. They were married in Ely and made their home in Elko. When Daddy passed away in 1958 she became the sole provider for two very young daughters. She worked at the Nevada Bank of Commerce where she meet Sauveur Elizagoyen and they were married in 1960. Our sister, Julie, was born in 1961.
During the 60's into the 80's Mom and Dad, who was a general contractor, had several irons in the fire, such as owning and operating motels in Elko, ranching in Star Valley and Idaho, and a vineyards in California. They returned to Elko to live and retire.
In 2009, illness brought Mom, Dad and Julie to Sparks to be with us. Dad passed away in December, 2010 and Julie, Mom's youngest daughter, passed away in July, 2011. Mom had been battling several chronic illnesses for some time and though she was tough as nails, they wore her down and she went home to the Lord to be with Julie, Sauveur, her brothers, sisters and parents.
Norma is survived by her daughters, Vicki Peterson (Frank) and Jo Ann Macari, both of Sparks; three granddaughters and three great-granddaughters; Sister-in-laws Elizabeth Carlini and Leonie Morandi; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-grandnephews.
The Rosary will be held on Thursday, January 17th at 7:00 p.m. at the Burns Funeral Home in Elko. Mass will be held on Friday, January 18th at 10:00 a.m. at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Elko. In luau of flowers, if you desire, please donate to the American Diabetes Association or the America Lung Association.
