Lillian M. (Albinski) DeSanzo, 89, of Homewood and formerly of Koppel, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver.
She was born on November 1, 1927, in Beaver Falls, to the late Peter and Mary (Aleksondrowz) Albinski. Prior to getting married, she worked at the former Beaver Falls Pants Factory and Mayer China in Beaver Falls. She was the co-owner of the former Alpine Inn and the Lark Motel that she managed from 1967 until 2000. She was a member of St. Monica Parish and former Cub Scout Den Mother. She was a volunteer for Homewood Heritage Foundation, Homewood Fireman’s Ladies Auxiliary, election board member, and auditor for the Borough of Homewood for many years.
Lillian was an avid walker and gardener. She found great joy in the simplest things. She enjoyed reading books on Early American History, in particular. Lillian loved dancing especially polkas which she did each weekend with her sister and best friend, Nellie, and friends at SNPJ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred E. DeSanzo, in 2012; a son, Ronald Lee DeSanzo, in 2010; a brother and sister-in-law, Theodore “Teddy” and Joyce Albinski; a sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer (Albinski) and Danny Minovich, and a nephew, Mark Minovich.

DeSanzo (Candace), Michael T. DeSanzo (Bibianna) and John P. Murphy (Pam); seven great-grandchildren, Jamie, Paige, Ronald Lee III, Nevaeh, Ellie, William and Eloise; a sister, Nellie Kampi and friend, Leo Goldba, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mom - When we were down, you picked us up. When we were hurt or ill, you cared for us. When we needed help, you were there for us. When our dreams seemed to fade, you gave them wings. When all seemed hopeless, you gave encouragement. When we needed a friend, you became our best. When we strayed, you led us, and when needed, you prayed for us
Words can never express just how much we loved you and how very much you will be missed. You have completed the journey, may your eternal happiness and peace be shared with all those loved ones awaiting you. Mom, your presence will be felt all the remaining days of our lives. Thank you for being the person you were.
Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the HILL AND KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, www.hillandkunselman.com , 3801 Fourth Avenue, College Hill, Beaver Falls, where prayers will be recited Saturday at 9:20 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Monica Parish, Chippewa Township.
Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Big Beaver Borough.

He was one of 25 men of the 157th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division, who drowned in the amphibious landings at Punta Braccetto, Sicily, on the first day of Operation Husky, the Allied Invasion of Sicily.
My friend, Jan Bos of the Netherlands, has extensively researched this and is now writing a book. He would like to know if you or a family member has a photo of Armand in uniform.
Apparently such a photo existed, as it was placed on his gravestone. Any help will be much appreciated."
