Eufemia is related somehow) I am very eager to see if there is a connection and hopefully add to this great database you have established.

My parents migrated to Australia after the 2nd World War. Surnames such as Di Giovine, Di Vecchia, Di Pietroantonio, Di Nardo, Crivelli etc etc etc heavily line our telephone directory in Melbourne. Sadly however, a great number of our "heroic" migrants have passed away and with them go so many beautiful stories of the "old" town and their experiences in starting a new life for themselves and their families in Australia.

My aim is to start documenting my family tree and some of these wonderful stories passed down to me from my extended family so that I can in turn pass them to my son Thomas.

I have quickly scanned your database but have not yet found any reference to people like Valerio Di Giovine and Antoniella Di Nardo,(my paternal grandparents)or Francesco Di Vecchia and Clementina Di Giovine, my maternal great grandparents.

I think my next step will be show this great site to my mother Maria Di Giovine (nee Di Vecchia) and I am sure she will recognise a few names.

Info from Antonella diGiovine Boyd, Mar 2004: "I have just ordered Famiy Tree Maker and have done a search on the www.ellisisland.org website and found out when and on what ship my paternal grandfather (Valerio DiGiovine) went over to the US. He was part of Colorado's coal mining history - spent 6 odd years there(1912-1918) before returning home to his wife in S. Eufemia."

Obituary for Ralph J. Sapariti
Ralph J. Sapariti, 86 of Center Twp. passed away peacefully on September 19, 2018 after an extended illness.
He was born June 4, 1932 in West Aliquippa and was the son of the late Guerino and Amelia (Palmieri) Saporiti. In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by a brother Theodore Sapariti, and a sister-in-law, Diane (DiVecchia) Midzianowsky.
Ralph was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Center Twp. He was a veteran of the US ARMY, honorably serving our country during the Korean Conflict.
Ralph retired after 37 years from J&L Steelworks where he worked in the 14” mill as a mechanical machine operator. After retirement he enjoyed new employment at Pittsburgh International Airport as a Skycap for 15 years.
Ralph took great pride in many of his pastimes. He enjoyed remodeling, gardening and spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid sports fan who followed Pittsburgh sports teams and maintained interest with local high school sports. Ralph enjoyed cooking for his family. One of his favorite dishes he prepared was hot roast beef and fries. For many recent years, Ralph liked reading about world history, sports legends/trivia, nutrition, and many other topics.
Surviving Ralph is his devoted wife of 58 years, Nancy (DiVecchia) Sapariti. Three loving children: Denise Sapariti, Karen and Edward Moses, and Rick Sapariti. Four cherished grandchildren: Kristyn & husband Fernando, Erica and her fiancé Patrick, E.J., and Hannah; three great grandchildren: Savina, Ellynah, and Anthony. Ralph is also survived by his brother, Frank Sapariti, a niece Dana Riggins and her husband Sean, a great niece Vivian Riggins; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Loretta DiVecchia-Smith and Dr. Roy E. Smith, three nephews: Mick Midzianowsky, Jesse and Jonathan Smith. Family and friends are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian burial Monday at 11:00 am, St. Frances Cabrini Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hopewell Twp. The Beaver County Special Unit will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
The Sapariti family would like to thank ANOVA Hospice, and all the home health assistants for the care and compassion that was extended to Ralph and their family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made if desired, to St. Frances Cabrini Church or a charity of one’s choice in memory of Ralph.
