Nick Deltondo, 96, of Patterson Heights, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at Friendship Ridge, Beaver, after a short illness.

He was born in Santa Eufemia a Maielle, Pescara, Italy on January 11, 1914, a son of the late Antonio and Concetta (Zianni) Deltondo, and came to the United States in 1920. He attended the Beaver Falls Schools until the age of 9 when his parents sent him to learn to repair shoes. He worked in various shops in the area until he started Nick's Shoe Service in New Brighton in 1948. When it closed in 1964 due to redevelopment, he was employed by Westinghouse Electric, Beaver, in the maintenance department until he retired in 1977. Nick was an avid golfer, enjoying the sport even until the fall of 2009. He also enjoyed playing cards. He was a life member of the Sons of Italy, Pietro Mascagni Lodge #1770 in Beaver Falls and the United Croatian Club in New Brighton and was also a member of the Order of Owls, Beaver Falls. Nick was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, St. Mary's Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Moneta Deltondo, whom he married November 27, 1947 at St. Mary's Church. Theresa died on February 3, 2006. He was also preceded by a brother, Angelo "Shine" Deltondo, and two sisters, Julia DeVecchio and Amelia "Mimi" Watterson.
Surviving are a daughter, Denise Deltondo, McDonald, Ohio; a brother, Tony Deltondo, East Liverpool, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Barbara Deltondo, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. in the LUTTON BEAVER FALLS FUNERAL HOME, 1117 fifth Avenue, www. luttonfuneralhome.com, where prayers will be offered Monday at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Divine Mercy Parish with Father James Farnan as celebrant.
