They were called Zio & Zia & from what she knows had no children of their own. Someone, I'm not really clear on this, "gave" them a child to raise named Eleanor. She lives in Freedom, PA & is in good health. "
I posted this on the Scionti message board on ancestry.com:
I'm helping a cousin trace her grandfather. His name was Vincenzo Scionti and might have been known as James Shont. His family was from Sant'Ilario dello Ionio, Reggio Calabria. We have found traces of him in Wooster, OH, Toronto, Canada, Koppel, PA and New Galilee, PA. His father was Giuseppe and his mother was Elisabetta Galizia. He was born probably 1 Jul 1894 (though different docs show different years). In 1914, he married Santa Colaianni in Wooster but the marriage broke up after a year or two. He remarried in Canada to Francesca Caranzi in Ontario, Canada but we don't know when. They both appeared on his WWII Draft Reg from Koppel, PA.

I posted this on the Galizia message board on ancestry.com:
I'm helping a cousin trace her great-grandmother, Elisabetta Galizia. We found a 1923 EI manifest which shows her enroute to Toronto with her daughter, Teresa Scionti. Going to Teresa's husband Gaetano "Guy" Altomonti. She also had a son, Vincenzo Scionti who might have been in Wooster, OH, Koppel and New Galilee, PA. Elisabetta's husband was Giuseppe Scionti but he does not appear in the 1923 EI manifest so was probably dead by then. The family was from Sant'Ilario dello Ionio, Reggio Calabria, Italy.

July 7, 1924-Jan. 12, 2008
A memorial service for Joseph Anthony Altomonte, 84, of Naples, Fla., will be at 1 p.m. Friday at North Naples United Methodist Church, 6000 Goodlette Road, North Naples, Fla.
Joseph passed away at home Jan. 12, 2008, surrounded by his family. He was born July 7, 1924, in Koppel, Pa., and soon after his family moved to Mansfield.
He was an outstanding high school athlete at Mansfield Senior High School, and his basketball talents resulted in several college scholarship offers. Then, as with so many men of his era, World War II changed the course of his life. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, First Calvary Division, and fought honorably in four major battles in the Pacific, earning the Bronze Star. During the invasion of Leyte in the Philippines, Joe served as bodyguard for Gen. Douglas MacArthur. During that period, he also was assigned to bodyguard Brigadier Gen. Carlos Romulo and Philippine President Sergio Osmena.
After the war, Joe attended John Carroll University, later earning a business administration degree from the University of Minnesota. He started his professional career working for the Faultless Rubber Co., Ashland. In 1979 Joe established the Dynacraft Golf Corp., Pal Joey Golf Co., Dynacraft Clubmaking Institute, Professional Clubmaker?s Society and Dynacraft Europe, earning top 100 Privately held corporations in Central Ohio.
In 1997, Joe retired to Naples, Fla. Joe was active in numerous service and professional organizations. The hallmark of his life was his generosity and compassion towards others, including educational and religious institutions and the fine arts.
Joe is survived by his wife and loving partner of 60 years, Betty; daughter, Beth, and husband, Carl Siemon; sons, Joseph, and wife, Gretchen Altomonte, and Rob and Jane DeAngelo. He is the grandfather of seven, whom he dearly loved and who dearly loved him; Michael, Jenna, Taylor, Carl Joseph, Camsie, Chloe and Emma. He also is survived by sisters, Mella Scorza, Francesca Perkins and Eleanor Caputo.

1817 Oct 21 Marriage act from Santo Stefano di Sessanio, used as an example in the book "Italian Genealogical Records" by Trafford R. Cole, 30y.
email from Carl Colista, Mar 2011: "I have a marriage record for Michelangelo and Maria Francesca Colaiezzi dated 21 oct 1817..documented by source. The processetti for this marriage provide a birth record for him on 7 jun 1787...documented. Now, Maria Francesca Colaiezzi dies 5 oct 1823....documented. However, I get a marriage record dated 5 aug 1826 for a Michele Angelo Gregorio Rusciolelli, born 4 april 1793, son to the same parents as the Michelangelo born on 7 june 1787...documented in the processetti of the marriage to a Maria Grazia Cicci. The problem that has me so very frustrated is that this Michele Angelo Gregorio is said in the marriage documents to be the WIDOWER of the Maria Francesca Colaiezzi who died 5 oct 1823!
The above data leads me to strongly believe that the Michelangelo born 7 jun 1787 died at an age before he could marry, and it was the son born 4 apr 1793 who was the one who married Maria Francesca and subsequently the lady Maria Grazia Cicci."
