Elsa Di Daniele, 90, of Middletown, DE passed away peacefully at Saint David�s Hospital in Austin Texas on December 30, 2015.

Born December 4, 1925 in Teramo, Italy, she was the daughter of Rinaldo and Gina DeAmicis.

Elsa was a legal assistant prior to getting married in Italy. After World War II she and her husband Vincenzo moved to the United States to seek a better life. They both worked hard to learn a new language in a strange land but endured. Elsa raised two children until they were old enough to begin school. She then took a part time job as a seamstress. Later she took employment at the Belmont Community Day Care Center located in the Bronx as the food services supervisor. She was responsible for feeding over 75 children and staff with nutritious and tasty meals. She retired in 1990 and moved to Delaware in 1997 to be closer to her son and daughter in law.

In January, 2015, Elsa became a great grandmother and in June 2015 the family encouraged Elsa to locate in Austin, Texas to spend time with her other son, daughter in law and two wonderful grandchildren. Elsa loved cooking and entertaining her family.

In addition to her parents, Elsa was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Vincenzo Di Daniele; sisters Clara and Nunziatina.

Elsa is survived by her two sons and their wives, Anthony (Tony) Di Daniele, his wife Renee, Austin, TX; Rinaldo DiDaniele, his wife Susan, Middletown, DE; grandchildren, Vincent and Nicole Di Daniele, Austin, TX, great grandchild, Anthony Stuart, Austin, TX and her two favorite pets, Giselle and Chloe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, January 7, 12 Noon at St. Joseph�s Catholic Church, 371 E. Main St., Middletown, DE. The viewing will be held prior to the Mass from 9:30 to 11:30 am at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown. Interment will be Friday, January 8, 12 Noon in Gates of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.

1910 28 Nov article in the Denver Post, "Mysterious Foe Blindfolds, Gags and Kills Mrs. Cellanto". 40y, Listed as "Dorinto Frazzini Labata Cellanto". Recounts her marriages to Felice Frazzini (in Rome), A. Labata (who divorced her) and Cellanto. Three children, one, Frank Frazzini 22y, a deaf mute, by the first marrage, and two by the second marriage.

1910 6 Dec article in the Denver Post: "The victim of the cutthroats figured in a divorce suit in June, 1905, her name then having been Mrs. Dorinto Labata, the wife of Dominico Labate...The jury found in behalf of the wife and she receied the decree, also the custody of their children, named in the papers as Billy, 5 years of age, and Joe, 4 years... Later, Labata showed up in court and secured the custody of the two children, alleging that the mother was not a proper person to take charge of them. He took them to Canada. The divorce was granted Jun 20, 1905 and the woman married Cellanto Nov 27, the same year."

14, 1911. Line 4 Labate, Andrea, age 57, male, married, peasant, in US from 1900-1906,
nearest relative in SPA was "father Co - wife Grazia", going to brother, Domenic at 200 - 60 - 25th St, Ogden, Utah. Traveled with Francesca Carlini.

Wilberta Illig tells me that she has found Ellis Island records of his arrival also in 1893 and 1904. A more recent find may have arriving in New York on 28 Nov 1881 on the Chateau Leoville.

Frances DiSanza, 90, of Lovelock, Nevada, died October 28, 2002, with family by her side. She was born in Ogden, Utah on April 17, 1912 to Dominic and Assunta Maria LaBate. She had a sister, Antonetta Piccinini and a brother, Vincent LaBate of Ely, Nevada.

She married Amedeo DiSanza and had two children, Carmine DiSanza and Margie Collins. She was a housewife and head cook for the Pershing General Hospital for 12 years and a member of the Lovelock Eaglettes.

She was preceded in death by her son, Carmine DiSanza. She is survived by her daughter, Margie Collins of Lovelock, Nevada. Her grandchildren, Debbie and her husband, Craig Bales of North Fork, California; Karen Stephens and Ryan Collins of Lovelock, Nevada; Joe DiSanza of Sparks, Nevada and Lynette and her husband, Leonard Lucas of Reno, Nevada. Great grandchildren, Shandee, Benjamin and Wyatt Bales; Thomas Stephens and Tyler Boyes; Jillian and Gary Lucas. "Bigma" had many people that she also called her grandchildren. She will be truly missed by all.

Rosary will be held in Lovelock, Nevada at the Lovelock Funeral Home on Friday, November 1, 2002, 7:00 PM and the Funeral Service at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Saturday, November 2, 2002, at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow in Lone Mountain Cemetery, Lovelock, Nev.

From his obituary: Loreto "Jumbo" Labate. ELY - Loreto "Jumbo" Labate, 86, died Friday in an Ely Hospital. He was born Aug. 4, 1896, in San Pietro Avellana, Italy where he was educated. He moved to White Pine County in 1922. Labate was a locomotive engineer for Nevada Northern Railway for 43 years before retiring in 1966. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, American Legion Post 3 and Ely Lodge 1469 BPO Elks. Surviving are son, Lorry Labate of Reno; sons, Mike and Tony Fondi and daughters, Connie Lewis, Carm Merrill, and Vi Gledhill, all of Ely; daugher, Helen Drietzler of McGill; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Ricitation of the rosary is scheduled for 8PM Wednesday at Wilson-Bates Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM Thursday at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Ely City Cemetery.

Mrs. Cliff Dreitzler is Helen Acquafondata, her daughter from her first husband.

From Lorry Labate Dec 2003: "My mother was Francesca Carlini, b. 2/16/1895 in Ateleta, she and my father, Loreto Labate (from San Pietro Avellano) were childhood sweethearts. But she was shipped to America to be married to Carmine Acquafondata and had 6 children.
To make a long story short, Carmine was killed in a railroad accident in Ely, and my father helped Mom care for the kids during the depression and later married her in 1935 and I came along in 1938. I grew up in Ely. I knew all of the Sanpietrese. But I do not recall any Carlini.
I believe my Mom's father, was Carmine Carlini. "

Cannot find her birth record in San Pietro Avellana microfilms. Lorry Labate cheked the Ateleta microfilms and did not find her there either. So we don't really know where she was born.

Ellis Island: 14 Aug 1911, 18y, father in SPA, Carmine. Going to Ogden, UT, sister Assunta, 200-60 25th Street (Address of the Italian-American Bank branch in Ogden). Travelled with Andrea Labate, 57y. Going to brother Domenico, same address in Ogden. This is probably when she came to the US for the arranged marriage to Carmine Acquafondata.

From Nevada Appeal, 9 Apr 2008:
Lorry Labate, 70, passed away April 4, 2008 in Carson City. He was born January 2, 1938 in Ely, Nev. to Loreto and Francesca (Carlini Acquafondata) Labate. Lorry worked for the State of Nevada until his retirement in 1994. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He married Laverne Hembree in 1990 and they enjoyed many years of gardening, golfing, travel and precious time with their family and friends.

Lorry is preceded in death by son Mark Labate. He is survived by daughter Laurie Van Epps and her husband Lee; son John Labate and his wife Kim; daughter-in-law Laura Labate; stepson Gary Hembree and his wife Charlene; stepdaughter Gayle Rankin and her husband Bill, 11 grandchildren, one great-grandson and many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

A memorial service and reception will be held at St Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, Carson City 10:30 a.m. Friday. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the American Heart Association in Lorry?s name. Autumn Funerals and Cremations has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
