Louis Ricci
Age 77, passed away on June 1, 2021, after a brief illness. Lou ("Mike" as he was known during his youth by family and childhood friends) is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Lee (Herniman) Ricci; son Mike Ricci (Joanne); and daughters Kristen Ross (Lance) and Leslie Mularski (Keith). Proud grandfather (Pup-Pup) to Halie (Kris), Alexa (Brad), Nina, Patrick, Matthew, and Lauren; brother of Bob Ricci (Debbie) and Jeanne Robertson (Carl); and uncle to the late Rob Herniman, and nieces Kelly Mann (Brett) and Katy Pisick (Eric). Also survived by many other loving relatives and countless friends.
Born February 7, 1944 to the late Lou and Garnette (Keener) Ricci, Lou grew up in Beaver Falls and will be remembered by many as perhaps the best center fielder in Highland Legion history. At a clinic held at Ewing Park in Ellwood City by pro scouts, a young Tommy Lasorda reported Ricci's throwing arm was the closest he had ever seen to Roberto Clemente's arm. Foregoing a possible career in pro baseball, Lou was the first college graduate in his family He attended Geneva College on an academic and athletic scholarship where he enjoyed an outstanding baseball career and was an all conference player his sophomore year.
A huge fan of Daffy Duck and Tabasco sauce, Lou spent his career in computer programming and retired with his wife to Florida where they spent many happy years at the beach before recently moving back to Adams Township, PA to be closer to family.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Lou absolutely loved life and was so very proud of his children and grandchildren who all love him dearly. In lieu of visitation and services, a Celebration of Life party was held on June 4 which was attended by his closest family. Donations in Lou's name can be made toS.A.F.E. Pet Rescue of St. Augustine, Florida.

Dominic E. 'Dom' Petrella, 61, of Monaca, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 6, 2012, at Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation in Darlington.

He was born on June 5, 1950, to the late Elmer A. and Frances (Tressler) Petrella. He was a proud graduate of Monaca High School, Class of 1968. Dom served in the United States Army from 1968-1971 and served in Vietnam from 1970-1971. He was a machine operator for Westinghouse Electric Co. from 1974-1987 then did various jobs until unable due to illness. He was well known for his love of the Steelers, Pirates and Penn State.

He is survived by a son, Elmer S. Petrella (Krystal) of Chippewa; a daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Ted Frazzini, Enon Valley; two granddaughters, Sammantha and Ameelia Frazzini; six brothers and sisters, Joe and Ann Petrella of Monaca, Steve and Pam Petrella of Raccoon, Matt and Mary Petrella of Chippewa, Gary Petrella of Conway; Cheryl and Jeff Pickrell of Monaca, and Amy and Jeff Brown of Monaca. He has 30 nieces and nephews and 26 great-nieces and great-nephews. He leaves behind four very special friends, Rose M. Petrella, Mechele Tuno and Laurie and Gar.

Friends will be received Monday, January 9, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, (724-728-4000), where the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 862, Beaver County, will conduct military honors at 4 p.m

It says he was born in Italy on May 25, 1878 and that he was survived by brothers John and Samuel, both of Youngstown. There is also a short notice in the Mansfield, OH newspaper from 1942 saying a 'Giuvana DiGiacomo', mother of Mrs. Mike Musille had passed away.

Some thing I just noticed is that there is a World War One Draft Card for a Nicandro DiGiacomo in Leetonia, OH with the EXACT same birth date and a wife named 'Giuvana'. Looks like Alessandro and Nicandro were the same person.

There is a Nicandro DiGiacomo arriving in 1895 on the Ellis Island site, but those early ship lists don't give any details."

I found this in a Jack O'Brian column with dateline : New York May 13 1955: "Cinderella story with a twist: Dolores Frazzini of Red Skelton's chorines, the Redettes, filled in on short notice for Red's guest star Helen Grayco. Dolores looked, sang, acted admirably. She rose to her chance skillfully." This was possibly Skelton's season 4, episode 30 which aired on 12 May 1955. Helen Grayco was Mrs. Spike Jones at the time.
