When my Dad, from Aliquippa, visited us this Christmas, he too loved seeing the photos. In fact, he was quite startled when he saw a photo of Helen DiNardo (a cousin of his in Aliquippa) in her youth, standing between her mom and dad (since deceased). Both of my Dad's parents (father- Pietro DiGiovine, mother- Eufemia D'Angelis) immigrated from Sant Eufemia a Maiella in the very early 1900's, and neither returned. They lived in the Italian neighborhood in West Aliquippa all of their lives....among the DiVecchios, DiNardos, D'Antonios, etc."

I asked mom and she confirmed: Helen's parent were Giovanni (John) and Antinella (not sure of the spelling) diNardo. Mom says they were not related.

This was from my sister we have been doing our generalogy together.. Mary Teresa Maguire, daughter to Charles and Nina Maguire supposedly married to Daniel John DiNardo....OR one of their daughters was....we only know of Mary Teresa but Nina obituary mentioned Mrs Daniel John DiNardo (listed in Freemont, CA) and ancestry shows his death dat as March 28, 1986 in Alameda, CA BUT Nina's obit also show as Mrs. John H. O'Donnell (they were listed then of Bethesda, MD) as one of her surviving daughters..so we are not sure who Mary T. married. Thanks Diane

Elda Louise Seager, 83, of West Aliquippa, passed away September 15, 2015.

She was born February 23, 1932, and was the daughter of the late Ralph and Maria DiGiovine.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Donn David Seager and her brother, John DiGiovine.

Elda was a member of Saint Titus Roman Catholic Church and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers.

She was a 1953 graduate of Sewickley Valley Hospital School of Nursing. Elda became the head nurse in the medical department at the hospital in 1957. She continued her love of nursing. In 1975, she coordinated the medical department for Aliquippa Head Start program. Her career continued as an occupational nurse for LTV in 1977. Beginning in 1989, she was a nurse manager at Shanago Inc. until her retirement in January 2000 at the age of 70.

Elda is survived by her two sons: Mark Seager, Baltimore, Maryland and Keith Seager, West Aliquippa; nine grandchildren: Renee, Lauren, Brian, Christy, Melissa, Elizabeth, Shane, Amber and Ashley. In addition to three great-grandchildren and a sister: Angie Rovnak, all who survive Elda.

Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the ANTHONY MASTROFRANCESCO FUNERAL HOME INC., 2026 McMinn St., Aliquippa, 724-375-0496. Departing prayers will begin Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Titus Church with Father Paul Householder, officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
