Betty Lou Auld, Woman�s Club of Rock Springs
I am a Wyoming Woman. I was born and raised in Rock Springs, WY, as was my mother. I attended kindergarten at Washington School, then SCM Catholic School 1st thru 8th grade and graduated from Rock Springs High School. Following graduation I attended Parks Business School in Denver Co. My adult work life began doing clerical work at a local business. I learned many things about work ethic and protocol, along with the things I needed to do my job. I moved for a short period of time to Los Angeles in the summer of 1965. Los Angeles was not a friendly place in August of 1965 when the Watts riots began. By October I was on the train returninghome.
I again did clerical work until October, 1967 when I married Robert, my husband of 41 years. We weremarried in Jackson Hole, WY and lived there for 18 years. Our three children, Maria, Annette and Scott were born and raised in Jackson. It was a great place to live.
I did various things in my home to earn extra money so that I could be at home with my children when they were young. When my youngest was about 3 � years old I went to work at the elementary school which allowed me to be home when the kids were home. I worked there for 10 school years.
During my years in Jackson I was active in my church. I was a member of the Women�s Altar Society and served on the Parish Council as the director of the CCD program for 2 years. This program was to educate the young people in the parish. I was also very active in a local pro-life organization, serving as secretary-treasurer of this organization. I was actively involved in the local Girl Scout Council, serving as a leader and an officer in the Council. I went to camps and all activities with my girls.
My two younger children were ski racers. Both my husband and I were very active in the Jackson Hole Ski Club. I worked ski races for 10 years and served on the Board of Directors until we left Jackson.
We moved to Pinedale, WY in 1985 when Annette was a senior and Scott a freshman in High School. I went to work full time at this point in my life. I tried to stay active in school activities and began to be active in my local political party. I served in various offices and was a delegate to the State convention several times. I served as Chairman for 2 terms. I was also very active in the Business & Professional Women�s Club, serving in several offices, including President for a single term.
I was active in the local senior citizens organization and served on their Board of Directors.
In March, 2009, my husband passed away and I made the decision to move back home to Rock Springs. As I began to renew old friendships and become closer to some family members, I started to take an interest in the community. I was invited to a Woman�s Club meeting and decided to join. I was a member for just a few months when I agreed to run for Vice-President. I was elected and am finishing my 2nd year in that office. This office allowed me to chair our major fund raiser, Holiday House, for 2 years.
I spend a great deal of time as one of my dad�s caretakers. My sisters and I keep dad in his own home by taking turns staying with him 24 hours a day. I t is a chore done with much love.
In my spare time, I bowl in 3 local leagues and serve as an election judge when necessary. When I can, I go line-dancing with a few other senior citizens.
That is my life up to this time.

Robert J. Auld, 69, of Pinedale died Thursday, March 12, 2009 at his home in Pinedale after a lengthy illness.

He was born November 19, 1940 in Rock Springs, the son of Robert and Kathryn Korfanta Auld. He attended school in Reliance and graduated from Reliance High School with the class of 1959. He also Attended the University of Wyoming.

Robert served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He married Betty Lou Gatti on October 28, 1967 in Jackson Hole. He was employed with the Wyoming Department of Transportation for 34 years until his retirement in 1995.

Robert was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Pinedale. He was also a member of the Elks Club for 41 years, Wyoming Highway Dept. Employees Assn., and the Jackson Hole Ski Club.

His interests included bowling, skiing, hunting, fishing, camping, and horseback riding.

Survivors include his wife Betty Auld of Pinedale; son Scott Auld of Strasburg, Colorado; daughters Maria Mortensen and Annette Ice, both of Rock Springs; grandchildren, Aly and Gavin Mortensen, Storey, Emily and Aubrey Ice, and Scotia Auld.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Archie Auld. Cremation has taken place at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs. Memorial services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2009 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 112 S. Sublette Ave. in Pinedale.
