Roger Frank Lusetti (I15206) [Male] b. 7 Oct 1940 Ely, White Pine, NV - d. 27 Apr 2014 Ely, White Pine, NV
Occupation:
1998 Mar 20 obituary in the Reno Gazette-Journal of mother Lizena Settefrati.

Roger Frank Lusetti
May 9, 2014 By The Ely Times

Roger Frank Lusetti passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on April 27, 2014. He was born October 7, 1940 in Ely, Nevada to the late Vincent and Lesina Settefrati Lusetti, Italian immigrants who had settled in Ely. He was the second child in a family of three. He graduated from White Pine High School in 1958. He married Judy Parks, his surviving wife of 53 years from Ruth, Nevada on July 8, 1961. Roger and Judy became the parents of two daughters who survive him: Teresa Fanelli (Donn) of Reno, NV and Pamela Aguirre (Tony).

He is also survived by grandchildren who he loved dearly, Mitch (Kellie) Jonas, Zach Jonas and Felicia Aguirre, by his brothers, Vance Lusetti of Oceanside, CA and Gary Lusetti of Lund, NV, and several nieces and nephews.

Roger worked for Northern Nevada Railroad in Ely until 1978 when the family moved to Elko where he went to work for Newmont Mining Company until his retirement in 2007. He loved hunting, fishing and hiking the mountains and deserts of Nevada, working in his yard, and cooking for family gatherings. Roger had been a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 40 years.

Funeral services were held Monday May 5, 2014 at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, with interment at the Memorial Garden of Prayer. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Sacred Heart and Our Lady of Grace Nativity Schools, 310 Edwards Ave., San Jose, CA 95110 or the Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation online at www.AAMDS.org/DonateNow or sent to AA&MDSIF, 100 Park Avenue, Suite 108, Rockville, MD 20850. The family will be notified of your thoughtful tribute.

Emanuele diNardo (I15222) [Male] b. 13 Feb 1886 Sant'Eufemia a Maiella, Chieti, Italy - d. 5 Nov 1907 Hopewell, Beaver, PA
Immigration: : 23 Mar 1905
1886 SEaM digital birth record #13, DOB 13 Feb, Reported by midwife, Beatrice Bucci (a very busy lady as she appears on birth records for 20 years). Apparently Giovanni and Maria Rosa were not civilly married (although they might have been married in the Church) as the record did not list the father and the mother is listed as "una donna che non consente di essere nominata" - "a woman who does not want to named". For his name, the record says "Emanuele ed it cognome di DiNardo" - "Emanuele with the last name of DiNardo". In the side column, there is a notation: "Emanuele diNardo è stato quale figlio legittimale da Giovanni Vincenzo diNardo e Maria Rosa diNardo per susseguente matrimonio oggi celebrato ed inserillo in questo ufficio. 26 Marzo 1886, Francesco Pantalone" - "Emanuele diNardo is the legal son of Giovanni Vincenzo diNardo and Maria Rosa diNardo per the subsequent marriage celebrated and recorded today in this office, 26 March 1886, Francesco Pantalone".

1886 SEaM digital marriage record #2, 26 Mar. Giovanni Vincenzo diNardo 36y, f: Emanuele, m: Concetta diCosmo & Maria Rosa diNardo 23y, f: Fabiantonio, m: Maddalena Crivelli. The record recognizes and legitimizes their son, Emanuele. Giovanni's occupation is listed as "operaio" or "worker".

1905 EI arrival, 18y (1887), going to cousin Guiseppe DiVecchio at 810 Webster Ave, Pittsburgh, PA. Travelled with many men from SEaM. Never before in the US.

1907 5 Nov PA DC, 22y (1885), f:Giovanni diNardo, f: Mariarosa DiVecchia. Accidental Drowning. Reported by Roberto diNardo from Woodlawn, PA. Laborer for Dravo Contracting Co. Originally listed as "Duward Demetroro". Corrected by notarized affidavit from Roberto DiNardo dated 13 Apr 1914. Died at the same date from the same cause: Michael Coutishe (born Austria 30y) and Louis Ostovitsch (born Italy, 30y). The DC's for both of those men are available on ancestry.com. Undertaker was Batchelor Bros from Monaca, PA. Emanuele buried in Monaca, PA (possibly Union Cemetery as that was the common one in use at the time). Note that the maiden name of Emanuele's mother is wrong - it is diNardo.

1907 burial NOT FOUND at Union Cemetery, Monaca. Information from the Union Cemetery web page at
http://www.webcemeteries.com/Public/Default.asp?PubCem=144

For more details of Emanuele's death, look at this web page:
http://www.silogic.com/genealogy/diNardo.html#diNardo_Pittsburgh

1907 15 Nov, the Daily Times had a short article: "Third Body Recovered" - "The body of the third laborer who was buried alive in a fifty foot well at Jones & Laughlin's steel plant at Aliquippa Park a week ago Tuesday, was recovered this morning. Batchelor Bros., the Monaca undertakers, went for the body this afternoon and will take it to their morgue. The body was buried several feet lower than that of the other two unfortunates, whose bodies were recovered several days ago."

1914 13 Apr, Corrected PA DC submitted by Roberto diNardo. See notes about the original 1907 DC.

Then I found a few more short articles. Look at my web page:
http://www.silogic.com/genealogy/diNardo.html#diNardo_Pittsburgh

email from Dave DiNardo, Aug 2014: "My cousin Mike told me that he did hear a story of a relative, possibly brother of our "Papap" that died in an accident many years before Papap came to America. Papap didn't land in America until 1920. The story went that the relative (or brother of Papap) fell into a vat of acid at the mill. ...[Emanuele's death certificate and corrections] refer to Dravo Corporation instead of a steel mill. Perhaps they did fall into a vat of acid instead of drowning. Maybe that’s why the bodies were not properly identified at first"

email from Dave DiNardo, Aug 2014: "After discovering this unknown brother to my grandfather, I just noticed that he wasn't unknown entirely. The attached document that my Aunt typed up many years ago does identify that my grandfather (Papap) had a brother who died in Beaver County at a young age named "Manuel". She got the spelling wrong that it is Emanuele. She must have been trying to understand my grandfather's very thick Italian accent. It also does identify that (Papap) did have a sister who never came to America named "Conject". She meant Concetta. This also matches what the very old people in Sant' Eufemia told my cousin when he visited there about 15 years ago. He didn't know whether to believe them or not when they told him that Papap had a sister named Concetta."

Document : "grandparents page from Aunt Helen" received from Dave DiNardo, Aug 2014: "Deceased at the age of 18, Aliquippa, PA".

2014 email from Jay at Union Cemetery in Monaca: "Sorry to say I could not find anything on Emanuele. I walked the cemetery looking for a stone for him and for Louis Ostovitsch. There was none to be found yet there are many that are so worn that it hard to say if one of them could have been it. We have no records of them either. I went to the Beaver County Genealogy Society to see what they might have and they looked along with me also to find anything. All they had was the newspaper articles too and the same DC's that you have. It's a very good guess to say they are in Union because of the articles. If anything should turn up I will contact you with our findings. Good luck in your quest."
