She may be the only civilian casualty of St. Eufemia killed by the Nazi soldiers during the second world war. When the Germans came to her home asking them to leave, she wouldn't answer the door. She looked through the peep hole and the German soldier shot the lock off killing her. (They asked everybody to leave so they could have their residences to prevent the Allies from residing there just like they did in the small towns my wife's family is from.)"

Joseph R. Colaianne, 82, of Latrobe, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, in Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born April 4, 1919, in Latrobe, a son of the late Vincent and Bambina Colaianne. He was a member of Holy Family Church and the Latrobe Sons of Italy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Alfred, William, Charles, John, Robert and Samuel Colaianne; and three sisters, Elizabeth Petraca, Rose Granatti and Clara Sisti. He is survived by his wife, Emma J. Maggiore Colaianne; a daughter, Angela E. Zeltner and her husband, Richard, of Kokomo, Ind.; a son, Anthony J. Colaianne of Blacksburg, Va.; three grandchildren, Traci Lynn Buck and her husband, Neil, Erin Nicole Zeltner and Benjamin Colaianne; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Evan Buck; and a number of nieces and nephews. Private visitation and blessing service were held Tuesday in the HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe. Private interment followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, Latrobe. Memorial contributions may be made to the Adams Memorial Library, 1112 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650.

John was married to his loving wife Elizabeth on September 10, 1955. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Elizabeth. His children; J. Michael (Melonie), Robert (Donna), Marie (William) Wolfer, Steve (Teresa), Joseph (Mary Kay). His adored grandchildren; James, Michael, Brent, Patrick Wolfer, Scott, Meghan, Matthew, Nicholas, Anthony, Autumn, Billy, Bob Wolfer. His great grandchildren; Anna, Addison, His sisters; Grace, Rita, Ruth, Dorothy. He was preceded in death by his two brothers James and Ralph. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-9 p.m. with a Rosary prayed at 7 p.m. at PHILLIPS FUNERAL HOME 122 W. Lake St. (10 Mile Road), South Lyon. Funeral Mass will take place Wednesday 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 830 S. Lafayette, (Pontiac Trail) South Lyon, with final visitation at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan or to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
