Contestabile, Dominic, 93, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away June 4, 2015. Dominic was born February 27, 1922 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Anthony and Dora (Yayo) Contestabile. Dominic was predeceased by his son, David Contestabile and brothers, Alfred Contestabile, Edward Contestabile and William Contestabile. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 68 years, Rita (Spardy), son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Gwen Contestabile, daughter, Carol Contestabile, grandchildren, Mark (Kristie) Contestabile, Donna Contestabile, Matthew Glattstein, Sarah Glattstein, David Contestabile, great grandchildren, Cole Contestabile and Addison Contestabile. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, 5:00 - 8:00pm at Kraeer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 1655 University Drive, Coral Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 10, 2015, 11:00am at Our Lady, Queen of Heaven Cemetery Chapel, 1500 South State Road 7, North Lauderdale where entombment will immediately follow will military honors.

The patriarch of the family, also Frank Zaccagnini (born 13 Jan 1873 in Italy, died 1 Feb 1916 in Kansas City, MO) and Anna Josephine DuVicchio Zaccagnini (born 19 Mar 1881 in Italy, died 16 Oct 1958 in Chicago, Illinois) had seven children. He was a coal miner (died of black lung at 43) and they moved all over the country. The oldest son, Anthony was born in Italy. James S. Vincent Zaccagnini was born in New Mexico, Julia M. Zaccagnini Hemmingway (she married a relative of Ernest) was born in Illinois. Michael Zaccagnini and my grandmother, Mary Ann Zaccagnini Prombo were born in Colorado. Frank Zaccagnini was born in 1915 in Kansas City, Missouri, as was Ann J. Zaccagnini Turk. When the father died, most of the children were sent to live in other homes and orphanages because Anna could not care for them by herself. My grandmother settled in Morris, Illinois, and lives in Aurora, Illinois and just turned 87 in August. I think she is the last surving child. "

Mary Ann (Zaccagnini) Prombo, 91, of Aurora, formerly of Morris, IL, passed away on June 7, 2005 at McAuley Manor. She is survived by her son, Joseph (Jeanne); and daughters, Josephine Johnson and Cecelia Prombo; her grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Adam; a daughter, Mary Ann Giunta; sons-in-law, Anthony Giunta and Robert Johnson,
preceded her in death. Mary Ann will be remembered at Sunday's 10:15 AM Mass at St. Rita of Cascia Church. Burial will be Friday in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Morris, IL.
A special thank you to the staff at McAuley Manor and Vitas Hospice Care.

My father Nicolino told me when they went to serve in the army for WWII that Emilio’s wife was pregnant, but unfortunately he was killed in the war, he never got to see his daughter. Her name is Clelia, she lives in Pescara. My father’s younger brother Mario never got married, but he took in his brother’s wife and daughter, and supported them. Clelia never got married and lived with her mother who passed away somtime around 2000 and with my Zio Mario who passed away around 2009 or 2010. I can’t remember. Clelia was a school teacher in Pescara, but she is now retired. I don’t know when she was born, I am going to guess 1940."
