Rose Tonti rang in her 34,675 day or 95th year on earth with a celebration. Approximately 1% of people living will reach this feat!

Rosie, was born in San Pietro Avellana, Italy on Sept 2, 1921. During WWII her town was taken over by the Nazi's which forced the community to hide on the hillside. Rosie's only brother was killed in the war and his body was burned without notifying the family. Luckily, the American Army came into her town and saved them. This sparked her interest to work hard in the fields to move with her mother and fiance to the States to seek a better life.

They waited five years for their number to be selected to immigrate to the United States. Finally, in 1950, they came to Utah, learned English, became US citizens and she married Domenic Tonti on March 31, 1951, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ogden.

She worked at Utah Tailoring Mills and put her hand stitch finishing touches on custom made garments for 48 years, retiring at age 80. Several of her custom designs were worn by the rich and famous, movie stars and rodeo queens. One of her custom designs was a crafted fabric rose that accented the garments she worked on. This became her signature on her works of art, some of which are currently on display in her home town museum in Italy.

She is a parishioner at St. James Catholic Church, where she is a member of the Promoters of the Sacred Heart, the Catholic Council of Women, is a pall committee member, attends daily Mass and is a weekly Adorer.

Her hobbies include her homemade Italian cooking for family and friends, the Utah Jazz, traveling and keeping up with a very active social calendar.

Rosie is called mom by her three children, Nona by her four grandchildren, and Nonina by her four great- grandchildren.

Rosie's motto? God Bless America!
