My aunt Gloria unfortunately is now in a home (being only sibling alive) any further information is a little sparse."
Cynthia then wrote: "I do have my grandparent's naturalization papers. When reading the information on my grandparent's reasoning to coming from Old Forge to McKees Rocks my grandfather was injured in the coal mine losing his eye and portion of his arm after going into the mine where the explosion occurred. My Mother explained that her siblings and herself were not happy leaving Old Forge. My Mom at the time was around 17 the oldest. My grandfather did receive an artificial eye after traveling extensively around United States in order to relieve the phantom pain of losing his arm and eye. My Mom remembers eating homemade wine with bread their only staples. Going to school a little too happy. Times were extremely difficult. Then and only then did my grandma start a little grocery store in order to feed the family. Address 1317 Broadway McKees Rocks. That address became their home until they passed. That home consists of several apartments in which my parents lived in one as I was their first born. Ironically when I married I too lived in the same apartment with my first born. Memories of helping my gram canning tomatoes, making pastas. My Aunt Gloria (who I called Aunt Go Go not being able to say Gloria) opened her first beauty salon exactly where my grandparent's store was. My cousins to this day still call her Aunt GoGo and when she calls me always says it's AuntGoGo and all cards are signed that way. Memories!"
