John Vaccaro, 70,of 102 Arch St.,Belle Vernon,died in Monongahela Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, Aug.28,1957,at 4 a.m. He was born in Italy on March 14,1887,and had lived in Newell and Belle Vernon for fifty years. He had been a section foreman for the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad until his retirement in 1954,and was a member of St. Sebastian's R. C.,Church. His survivors are his wife, Rose, four sons, Gasper, of Belle Vernon, Joseph, of Newell, Anthony and Eugene, of Belle Vernon RD 2,two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Ann) Holmes, Ellwood City,and Mrs. Al (Julia) DiNardo, of Pittsburgh, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. tonight at the Ferguson Funeral Home, with services from St. Sebastian's R. C. Church on Friday, Aug.30,at 10 a.m. Rev. Henry Hanse will have charge of the services. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby Ferguson is the funeral director.

1971 24 Jul Obituary in the New Castle News, New Castle, PA. No children listed. Three Sgro brothers and half-brother, Gasper Vaccaro. Nephew, David DiNardo, told me that the family connections shown in this obituary are wrong. Anna's father was Giovanni 'John' Vaccaro. When
Giovanni and his wife, Angelina Vuono, divorced, their daughter Anna stayed with Angelina and the two sons, Gaspare (Gasper) and Pasquale (Charles) stayed with their father. Salvatore Sgro was Anna's step father, the three Sgro brothers were half-brothers and Gasper was a full brother. It is possible that she was officially adopted by Salvatore so that her legal surname was Sgro.

Mill Worker Murdered At Belle Vernon

At an early hour Sunday morning Belle Vernon was the scene of what appears to have been a brutal murder, the victim being a workman in the Pittsburgh Steel Mill.
Chino Carini, an Italian living near the plant of the American Window Glass Co., states that about 1 o'clock he heard a man exclaim, "My God, I've Got enough."
Carini, it is said, investigated an soon found three men in deadly combat tow of whom seemed to be mercilessly beating the other. Recognizing the victim as a friend named Antonio Vaccario, he interfered, knocking one of the assailants down and when the other drew a gun, Carini fled home to arm himself for defense. Returning to the scene he found that all three men had disappeared. Sunday morning Vaccario's body was found face down in about a foot of water along the river shore, with one side of the head crushed. Vaccario, an Italian, aged 28 years, was a wire drawer at the Pittsburgh Steel Mill and had been in America nine years.
