Margie Frances DiSanza Collins

Margie F. Collins, 58, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2003, at Washoe Medical Center, with family by her side. She was born in Lovelock, NV on October 4, 1944 to Amedeo and Frances LaBate DiSanza.

As a young girl, Margie lived in Oreana and later the family moved to Lovelock. Margie grew up in Lovelock, attending local schools and graduating from Pershing County High School. She was actively involved in community activities. She served as a 4-H leader, was a past member of the Lovelock Eaglettes, and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She was always helpful with all school activities such as room mother and most recently, a History Day fund raising project making Margie's "Cream Puffs". She was a member of the clock tower committee that relocated the clock from the Park Hotel to its present location. She owned and operated Margie's Cusine for several years. In the past, she worked at the Safeway Store and she was currently employed in the medical records department at the Lovelock Correctional Center.

She is survived by Jean Paris of Lovelock; her daughter Debbie and husband Craig Bales of North Fork, CA; daughter Karen Stephens and Pat Boyes of Lovelock; son Ryan Collins and Alyson Brooks of Lovelock; and nephew Joseph DiSanza of Reno. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Shandee, Ben and Wyatt Bales of North Fork, CA; and Thomas Stephens and Tyler Boyes of Lovelock. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Carmine DiSanza.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lovelock Funeral Home Chapel and Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lovelock, NV. Interment will follow at the Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Lovelock Funeral Home.

He arrived here on the Ferdinando Palasciano on July 3, 1920 and stayed with his brother-in-law, Ignazio Mancini in Primero, CO. Ignazio Mancini arrived in the US March 3, 1907. I know you have Mancini's in your family. I was wondering if you have any information about him and if he's a relative of yours. The other interesting piece of information I found was that Vincenzo di Monte arrived on the S.S. Finland on June 24, 1905 with his friends Angelosante di Giovine, Teodoro di Nardo, Matteo Pallone and Donato ???, all from SEAM. They stayed with their "cousin" Carmine Pallone in Pittsburgh, PA. Do any of these names ring a bell? I'm assuming Vincenzo di Monte is related to me in some way since I get the sense that there weren't very many di Monte's in SEAM. The name is more common in Caramanico Terme. As well, Giovanni Vincenzo di Monte was my g-gfather, so perhaps he was Raffaele's brother, or even cousin."

Ellis Island has a 1909 record for Carmine diLorenzo, 30y, going to Pueblo CO. (would have been born about 1879) Wife in SPA, Maddalena diCrossi (?). Previously in the US for 2 years but I can't read the date, town was "Pburg".

NOTE: I believe that his wife's family name is diIullo based on the 1903 arrival with two members of that family and looking more closing at the handwriting of the name on the 1909 EI record.
