STELLA FRAZZINI

SUN CITY, Ariz.—A mass of Christian burial for Stella Frazzini was 10 a.m. Monday at the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Scriptural rosary was recited 6 p.m. Sunday at the Vase Funeral Chapel with Father Charles Taylor officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Mrs. Frazzini, 81, 14418 Blackwood Drive, Sun City, Ariz., died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, at the Walter O. Boswell Memorial Hospital in Sun City.

She was born March 12, 1912 in San Pietro, Italy, a daughter of the late Emelio and Rose Nicollo Mariani. She grew up and attended schools in Italy.

She married Oreste Frazzini in Salt Lake City Aug. 17, 1932 and he preceded her in death July 17, 1969.

She was a resident of Arizona the past two years and was a longtime resident of Rock Springs. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons, Oreste Frazzini Jr., Sun City, and Marco Frazzini, San Diego; two brothers, John Mariani, Salt Lake City and Joe Mariani, San Leandro, Calif.; two sisters, Angie Costantino, Rock Springs and Viola Defa, Hanna, Utah; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Roy Mariani.

To date we know nothing about her and her immediate family. However, my mothers sister Helen Sobeski married Michael LaBate thus Michael and Helen were my aunt and uncle. They lived in Ellwood City, PA. We visited them at least once a week when we were children and were very close to them. Please see LaBate family tree Michael & Helen (Sobeski) LaBate 1930. Thus I have interest in the LaBate family from two completely separate family members. My mother told me that my Uncle Mike LaBate had a wooded leg. My Aunt Helen did not know he had a wooded leg until after they were married. You can imagine what a shock that must have been. My mother also remembers that Uncle Mike LaBate lost his leg in a railroad accident out west when he was a young man. After looking at your Internet site, I wonder if Uncle Mike LaBate was staying with the LaBates from Ely, NV and that the accident that took his leg occurred on the Nevada Northern Railroad? Lucia stayed in Italy and would not go to Philadelphia where Ostilio worked. The two children, Olgo, the younger, and Emilia, both died when they were fairly young. Ostilio returned to Italy for some years and they then had the family that I knew--Italo (Luciana and Daniela's father), another Emilia and Adalbert. The second Emilia is still living, but both boys and their wives are deceased and of course, Ostilio died many years ago and is buried in Philadelphia.".

The children of Lucia's son, Italo, are the cousins that I will be visiting in San Pietro."

Lucia was very stubborn and refused to come to the USA to live with her husband Ostilio Rossi. Ostilio sent money back to Lucia in Italy. Lucia used this money to educate (college) her children. Della said that Lucia's children were better educated than most American children for those days. Della also remembers Ostilio coming to Koppel, PA to visit many times."

I'd forgotten that she went originally from Italy to Denver (where her sister Concetta Colaianni and husband Oreste Cinea were located), moving to Youngstown in 1915, when she married Earl. She died in July of 1978 at the age of 86."
