1901 24 Jan - possible - EI arrival, 24y, going to brother - Antonio Frazzini in Freedom, PA. I'm not sure who this Antonio could be unless its Berardino Antonio born 1865 but I don't have any information that supports that idea. Traveled with Salvatore Frazzini, Matteo Adriano, Tommaso diMartino, Domenico Morelli, Pasquale Riccio, Giovanni Ricci and Domenico diLudivico.
1905 6 Mar Boston arrival on the Romanic , 28y, going to friend in Boston MA. Previously in the US from 1901 to 1904. Traveled with Michele diSanza, Carmine dGiacomo, Giacomo Musilli, Sabatino diMartino, Antonio diCianno, Giovanni diGiacomo, Pasquale Iannacchione, Celestiono Carlino and DOmenico Mazzocco.

Info from great-granddaughter, Jennifer Malone: "Was excited to find the below information on your website. Maria Nicola diGiacomo was my great-grandmother, and Nicola Frazzini mygreat-grandfather (My dad knew them as "Nana and Tata"). Maria Frazzini was my grandmother, she married John Stanley Lawrence (Polish immigrant) here in Latrobe, and had 6 children. My father, John Lawrence was her third. Maria diGiacomo and Nicola also had a son that died in Italy, before they came here in 1920 -- family story is he died from a fall onto a knife, or some kind of stab wound when a small boy. I have been searching records for awhile just out of curiosity (mostly my dad's curiosity). Your website is fantastic, but still I cannot trace any further back from Maria diGiacomo and Nicola Frazzini (her husband). The only other thing I could find is that one of the times Nicola Frazzini came to America (according to my Dad he came 3 times), on May 10 1909 thru Ellis, the manifest has him "with #1". Passenger #1 was Salvatore Frazzini, 63, headed for Denver. My father said that Nicola had come to work on the railroad out west before he settled here in Latrobe PA. My father also remembers talk of family who were "bankers"out in Denver. I'm assuming some kind of relationship with Prospero. He also remembers family from Utah(?) coming to visit when he was little, late 1930's. He remembers they had a "camper", and 2 teenage boys. It is believed they were from the diGiacomo side, but not sure. You probably can't help me any further, I know many records were lost in the war. In fact, my Grandmother and one or two of her sisters went back to San Pietro in the 70's, and she said she didn't even recognize most of the town. Thanks to the website I now know why my great-grandmother and her girls were crossed off the Ellis Island list...never thought to check another immigration port such as Boston. In fact, I wouldn't even know how. I don't know who "Wilberta" is, but thank her for me. I will keep checking your site for new info. Thank you for putting all your research and pictures, etc on the website for families like mine. It is so wonderful to see the streets and churches and mountains where my family comes from."

1887 SPA birth records are missing. I could not find her in 1886 or 1888 records.
1920 Boston manifest, 32y, going to husband, Nicola Frazzini, Latrobe, PA. Blind in her right eye. Travelled with two daughters, Lucia and Maria. Brother-in-law in SPA - Brandisio Labate.
1930 census, 42y, Latrobe, PA, First married at 16y, immigrated 1920
Info from great-granddaughter, Jennifer Malone.
Possible: with her age listed as 32y and 42y in 1920 and 1930, she could have been born in 1888 or, one year earlier, in 1887. I could not find her listed in the 1888 SPA birth records. The 1887 SPA birth records are lost. She may have been born in 1887. If she was, it is going to be difficult to know if this connection that I made is correct. We may have try to find her marriage records in 1903/4/5 in SPA.
From Beckie Johnson, I learned about Carmine Ernesto diGiacomo and his father Florindo who lived in Latrobe. There is a good chance that Florindo is Nicolina's father.
I have heard from Jennifer Malone, GGD of Nicolina, she confirms that Nicolina and Carmine were siblings - both children of Florindo diGiacomo and Giavanna Colajanni.
From greatniece, Rebecca Johnson, Jun 2008: "We have been told that Carmino's sister had one blue eye and one brown eye and died in La Trobe, PA around 1939 or 1940. Carmino also had another sister that stayed in SPA with their mother."

Oreste Luigi Cinea (I3379) [Male] b. 3 Sep 1884 San Pietro Avellana, Campobasso, Italy - d. Jun 1969 Denver, Denver, CO
Occupation:
Immigration: : 20 Nov 1907
Film 1448676 Nati 1884 #60
Info from Rayna Valentine, Feb 2006: "I know very little about uncle Oreste besides the fact that he married my grandfather Adelmo Colaianni's sister Concetta and that he was, to me, at least, a very kind person when I met him in his later years. I did find a tiny obituary of him in my Aunt Mary's collection of family memorabilia, which stated that he was born in Italy on September 3, 1884, and married my great-aunt Concetta there in 1906. I had understood that their first-born, Italia, was born in Italy, and lived there for some time before they emigrated, but the obit (not necessary accurate, of course) stated that they emigrated in 1906 and settled in Denver. He died in 1969. The only survivor listed besides members of my family and his children, was a sister-in-law Beatrice Cinea. Since no one named Beatrice was married to any of aunt Concetta's siblings, I'm assuming that he had a brother who had died leaving a widow named Beatrice. He owned and operated the Cinea Grocery at his home beginning in 1926. Before Oreste started his own home grocery store (in 1926 I believe) he worked for Frazzini brothers in their grocery store in Denver. Frazzinis must have had an affinity for the grocery business. My Uncle Tony Colaianni also worked for some Frazzini brothers in Ogden until he left to come to Pocatello and open his own grocery. I have a taped interview of him at age 99 talking about the older ("the old man") who was no longer interested in the business and just wanted to go to the saloon they owned and drink and visit with his cronies. The young ones relied on Unc for doing some of the book work because he was very good at math and "wrote a beautiful hand" as they say."
1907 20 Nov EI arrival, 23y, wife in SPA, Concettina Colaianni, going to father-in-law, Emidio Colaianni in Denver, CO (bank address).

Italia died about 2-3 years ago and I'm pretty sure that there are funeral notices in the box of Aunt Mary's that I haven't opened yet. My Aunt Mary wrote and telephoned them on a regular basis until about a year and a half ago.. Elsie Alvarez was the person who took care of Vi and "I" (pronounced "ee"--the nickname by which our family called her as far back as I can remember). No relation, though. I know my aunt telephoned Elsie umpteen times and had me check into estate issues some years back when the two sisters were beginning to show signs of Alzhiemer's."

Armando "Herman" diSanza (I3395) [Male] b. 12 Oct 1903 Italy - d. 13 May 1932 New Brighton, Beaver, PA
Immigration: : 3 Feb 1921
1921 arrival, 17y, shoemaker, going to uncle Luigi in Koppel, PA, father, Bernardo, remaining in SPA. He arrived in the US via St. John, New Brunswick. Travelled with Ostilio Rossi.
1930 Census, 25y.
Appears in the SPA militia photo person #21
1932 PA DC, 28y 7d 1d, Listed as Herman DeSanzo. DOB 12 Oct 1903, Craneman for Kobbpel Cav Co. f: Bernard DeSanzo, mother Antute Colaianni. Reported by John DeSanzo 534 4th Ave, Koppel, PA. Died at Beaver Valley General Hospital.
Info from Della DeSanzo via Dave DeSanzo, Feb 2006: "I had Della DeSanzo look at the SPA militia picture over the weekend. Della did identify person #21 in the picture as Armando (Herman) diSanza. Armando's father was Bernardo diSanza who was the oldest child of Giuseppe diSanza and Santa LaBate. Armando lived with Giovanni De Sanzo and his family in Koppel, PA. The 1930 census for Koppel, PA states that Armando immigrated to the USA in 1927. Armando worked at the Koppel Industrial Car & Equipment Company as a laborer. Armando was hit in the shoulder while working at the Koppel Car Works and died from complications from his injuries in 1932. Armando is buried at an old, abandoned, Catholic cemetery in nearby Hoytdale, PA.
I have attached the 1930 census record for Koppel, PA for your review. Armando is incorrectly listed as Giovanni's brother. Armando was really Giovanni's nephew. I have also attached a picture of Armando taken in front of the home of Luigi De Sanzo in Koppel, PA. Armando is posing with my father Louis who was born in 1922. There is no date on the picture but judging by the size of my father, I would estimate that it was taken around 1927 the same year that Armando arrived in Koppel."

Domenico diMartino (I3429) [Male] b. 22 Mar 1896 - d. Mar 1987 Albuquerque, Bernalillo, New Mexico
I'm guessing here that Domenico is a brother. His social security number was issued in Pittsburgh (starts with 181) just like his possible nephews, Quirino and Mario. So I'm putting this in my database with that explaination. The guess is a little weak because his mother, Teresa Aurelia, would have been 51 years old when he was born.

Many, many articles in old newspapers about Gloria and her work in the beauty industry. Some of the articles have photos.
Feb 2020 - email from Greg Square: "I was doing some genealogical research and found that my trees branches intermingled with yours. We are probably very very many times removed through multiple marriages down the years. I found your website which helped me to fill out some areas. I noticed the correspondence between you and Gloria DiSanza. I just wanted to let you know that I have entered the above named DiSanza's on familysearch.org. There is a good deal of info there. Since they lived primarily in Cook county, IL, most of their documents are not visible on the web. You would have to pay Cook county to send you copies of them. However, the basic info was available in the descriptions. There were entries from the Catholic Church; burial cards for all three of these, which gave their burial plots. I made entries for all three of them on findagrave.com: Christopher DiSanza, Frances DiSanza, and Calisto DiSanza. One of the entries said that it was for "Illinois Soldier Burial Places, 1774-1974", which led me to believe that Calisto had served in the military. If he had, I would like to add that info to his entries on findagrave and familysearch. Also, the one record says that his wife was named Bonnie. I could not find a marriage record for them and was wondering if you knew her maiden name or whether she got re-married after Calisto's death. Also, Gloria and her first husband, Robert Frank Larkey, had one son, Robert Christopher Larkey, Nov 30 1959 - Dec 26 1960. I have also made entries for him on both familysearch and findagrave. I was also able to track down information on Elvira DiSanza, youngest daughter of Christopher and Frances. As of 2019 she is living with her husband John Robert Keil at; 3318 Windjammer Drive, Spring Hill, FL, 34607. The phone listed on the web was 352-684-0559. Hope you find this info useful."
