Maria "Mary" Morganelli (I3765) [Female] b. 10 Mar 1897 Ancona, Ancona, Italy - d. 30 May 1994 Chicago Heights, Cook, IL
Immigration: : 1898
1910 census - from Chicago Heights of a Morganelli family headed by Liberato and Angia(?). They had a daughter Maria shown as age 15 but the order in which they list the chidren, should more likely be 13y. If my guess is correct, this is the Maria that married Giuseppe Brutti because the age is about right and the location is Chicago Heights - where they lived all their lives. This census shows that Liberato immigrated in 1896 and Angia and the three of her six children who were born in Italy. (Actually the census listed 6 children but shows that she had 10 children, 7 of whom were still alive in 1910). 1920 Census - Joe, Mary, Fannie and Orlando in Chicago Heights, IL. Maria born in Italy, immigrated 1898. I could not find any of the family on Ellis Island.

guestbook entry by Mary Lucille Milano, 1 Feb 2012: "I am a great niece (by marriage) of Dominic Frazzini, married to my great aunt Rose Ardente (Arden) and died in Chicago in 1959. Uncle Curly, as we called him, was of a family from the Abruzzi, and had a brother, Nick, who moved to Las Vegas and was a deputy sheriff there, and a sister, Kate Capporelli, who moved to California. The family was devoted to Santo Amico, and I understand was the custodian of a statue of the Saint from a church razed on the West Side of Chicago (Guardian Angel) where my parents were married. Curly lived with my family until his death and was my baptismal Godfather. The Ardente's were from the Basilicata region, Marsica Nuova, as best I know. Always happy to find pieces of the storia, even through marriage."

email from grandniece, Mary Lucille Milano, Feb 2012: "His wife was born in 1905 - he had just retired from the city the day before he died from the heart attack at our house on Lotus avenue on the Northwest Side of Chicago. I have pictures which I can dig out as well. Guardian Angel was the family church. It was in what was then the Little Italy section of Chicago - Taylor and Halsted area, but was torn down to make way for the University of Illinois Chicago and the Eisenhower expressway. There was quite a community fight at the time to try and save the church which was, as I recall, the successor of the first Italian mission in Chicago. Their records would have gone to the Archdiocese of Chicago. They then lived on the West Side, near Chicago Avenue and Kedzie, again as a larger family unit.

He was a wonderfully kind man -- they had no children but he spent many hours with my brother and myself. As I said, we shared the same house together with his sister in law, my grand mother Lucille (Lucia) Milano nee Ardente."

Daylight slaying on Glenwood Ave. leads to murder charges against 2 men
The murder case is linked to a freeway shooting.

YOUNGSTOWN — A daring daylight shooting on Glenwood Avenue has resulted in aggravated murder charges against two men.

Eric Lewis, 18, and Adrian Washington, 26, both of Youngstown, were due in municipal court today for arraignment in the shooting death of 23-year-old Martwain J. Dill of West Laclede Avenue.

Capt. Kenneth Centorame, chief of detectives, said members of the Street Crimes Unit and U.S. marshals fugitive task force were given the warrants last week. He said Detective Sgts. Rick Spotleson and John Patton worked the case and developed leads.

Centorame declined to discuss the motive. He said it is a complex case and praised Spotleson and Patton's efforts.

Details

The shooting happened at 11:02 a.m. Nov. 3. Dill's old Ford 150 pickup truck — its windows shot out — crashed into the curb on Glenwood at Earle Avenue. The 1986 pickup had at least 18 bullet holes in it, and blood covered the driver's seat.

The victim was hit more than once, including in the head, police said. The homicide was the 27th of the year and fourth that week.

Detectives gathered more than 40 casings, shells and bullets at the scene. The weapons used included an AK-47 assault rifle and .40-caliber handgun.

Centorame said the Dill homicide is linked to the Interstate 680 shooting of 21-year-old Angela Frazzini at 10:45 p.m. Nov. 4. Frazzini's car was shot up, and she was hit in the left shoulder and lung. Reports show she has addresses on Donald Avenue in Youngstown and Riggs Road in West Middlesex, Pa. Centorame said whoever shot at the woman believed her boyfriend, Washington, was in the car.

Info from Stella Leonardo, Apr 2006 in speaking of her grandmother, Chiara Flora: "Her brother was Ruggerio (Roger) Frazzini, Freedom,PA. Chiara always referred to him as brother. His children addessed her as Aunt "Chiaruca". I often accompanied my grandmother Chiara to Freedom to visit her brother Ruggerio."

Birth year is estimated to be 1874, from naturalization records of Beaver County, PA. He is not found in the SPA microfilms since that year is missing from the records. Also not found in the 1875 or 1873 birth records.

Info from Thomas Frazzini, Jan 2006: "My grandfathers naturalization papers he is recorded as Ruggiero Frazziene although we never spelled it that way as far as I know. He was born in 1874. I don't know anything about his or my grandmothers parents. He had a brother who went to Denver, I don't know when however or what his name was. In 1979 I had a contract assignment in Green River, Wyoming I learned of a Frazzini, he was very successful in concrete, what else? I didn't know it but my Aunt Elsie said it was my grandfather's brother."

Wilberta Illig sent me this in May, 2005: "Found a website you'll be interested in -- Naturalizations for Beaver County, PA. (http://www.co.beaver.pa.us/) Looks like they only go up to 1906 -- I think that's when the Federal government took over. Quite a few names from SPA there. One is Ruggerio Frazzini. Have you seen him before? He is in the 1920 Census as Roger Frazzini in Freedom, PA. I have a few obits of his children from the Beaver County Times newspaper. He had 11 or 12 children. He says he arrived in 1901 or 1902, but I just can't find him in the Ellis Island Lists. You won't find him in the SPA films either -- his Naturalization papers say he was born in 1874 and I know the Nati records are missing for that year -- that's the year my grandfather was born. His wife was Virginia diTanna -- she's in Ellis Island as Vincenza Tanna leaving "Opracotta" in 1903 with her two children - Gio'sue, age 2 years and Prosperina, age 2 months. You've probably seen the kids names. Wonder who Prosperina was named for?"

email from Gordon Owens, Nov 2008 about the death of Ruggerio's son, Domenic: "his father, Rugerio (Roger), died in the late 1930's". Mark's note: Ruggerio's tombstone says 1937.

1874 SPA birth records are missing.

1896 7 Apr SPA digital marriage record #3, 21y. f: Sabatino 62y, m:Maria Colarosa. Abdenago is a rare name but appears to be a good Italian given name.

1901 immigration but I could not find a manifest on EI or on ancestry.com. Petition for Naturalization says he emigrated on or about 8 May 1901 (date he left Naples) on the Kaiser, landing at NY. This could be the Kaiserin Maria Theresia which sailed from Naples on 15 Mar and 14 Apr 1901. Another date which appears on the Petition says he resided in the US from 20 May 1901 in PA. Based on the May 1903 arrival of daughter, Prosperina at age 2m, he had to be in Capracotta 9 months earlier in 1902 to concieve her.

1902 immigration - if Ruggerio were in Capracotta in the spring of 1902, he might have come over on the 28 Apr 1902 or the 2 June 1902 arrivals of the Kaiserin Maria Theresia (sailing from Naples). Its even possible that he sailed on a different sailing from Bremen/Southampton.

1906 10 Apr - Declaration of Intention, Beaver, PA.
1910 census, Freedom, Beaver, PA, 35y, married for 10y, imm 1901.

My grandmother, Mary Frazzini Spataro, was a wonderful women.  She married my grandfather, Bruno Spataro, when she was 16.  He was in his early 20s.  They did live in Beaver Falls when they were first married.  They had 4 children (Antionette (Aunt Nunny), Anthony Francis (my dad), Jean, and Mary Jane (Aunt Dolly). I don't know much about when they lived in Beaver Falls. I do remember my dad telling me that my grandfather (Bruno Spataro) got in a fight with the "black hands" in Beaver Falls because my grandfather would not pay them protection money.  After that fight my grandfather moved the family to Freedom, PA. My grandfather worked on the Pennsylvania Railroad as a fireman and locomotive engineer for 45 years. He was the first or one of the first non-US born firemen to be promoted to locomotive engineer on the Pennsylvania Railroad.  My grandmother loved to cook and when you went to their house there was always something cooking and they wanted you to eat."
