"I just heard from the youngest daughter of Earl Colaianni?the 'Uncle Earl' who died after 1990. Rosalinda (the daughter) said that the Arthur Ronald Colaianni (he 'goes by' Ron) who recently contacted me from Wisconsin, was her father Earl's great-nephew. So Ron's father, Arthur Colaianni who was married to Wanda Doretti and lived in Chicago (died in 1970) was Earl's nephew, making the eldest Arturo Colaianni Earl's brother. Ron told me that Earl and Arthur's brother was named 'Umzell', but that sounds to me like a nickname, doesn't it? Wanda is still living in Valley Forge at age 87, by the way, and I'm hoping to get some information about her family also. Ron also thought that his great-grandfather may have been named Arturo Colaianni, also.

Earl and Umzell settled in Pennsylvania and worked for the railroad. Their brother Arturo (Ron's granddad) went to Chicago and worked for Crane Plumbing."

Edward J. Labate
BOARDMAN – Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Schiavone Funeral Home in Youngstown for Edward J. Labate, 90, who passed away Monday at his residence.
The son of Earl R. and Josephine Colaianni Labate, Edward was born in Youngstown on May 11, 1920.
He was a 1938 graduate of The Rayen School and an Army veteran. Edward was a member of the Golden Eagles and Itam Post 3. His first job was at the family store, Labate Grocery in Smokey Holow and then Truscon Steel. For 30 years. he was the manager of a State Liquor Store.
He is survived by his wife, Yolanda Bologna Labate, whom he married May 20, 1950; two daughters, Nancy Hetrick (Robert) of New Middletown and Linda Ackley of Scottsdale, Ariz; and grandson, Brian Ackley.
Preceding Edward in death besides his parents were two sisters, Elsie M. Labate and Louse Kusmirek; brother, Dominic Labate; and grandson, Gregory Ackley.
Family and friends may gather from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. at St. Charles Church for an 11 a.m. Mass on Friday.
Donations may be made in Edward’s name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St. in Boardman.
