email from Gene Frazzini, May 2020: "I was playing with Ancestry ThruLines tonight and that program thinks you and I are 6th cousins and share a 5th great grandfather, Tommaso diTella (1729-1817) (your I1131). I only go back as far as my 4ggf and I don't have his parents. Your website shows Tommaso with 3 children but does not include my 4ggf Giovanni Francesco diTella (1770-1826) as a son. Ancestry ThruLines believes he was probably a son. Does any of your SPA research show Giovanni as the son of Tommaso and the brother of Ciprianno & Fortunata? Ciao, Gene".

It was after the above email from Gene that I found this death record:

1826 SPA transcribed death record #34. f: Tommaso, m: Cecilia Tristano. His occupation was listed as a word that Shirley transcribed as calrivatore. But I can't find that word. Other possibilities are Cacciatore (Huntsman) or Conciatore (Tanner).

email from Gene Frazzini, May 2020: "The Isernia archives genealogy search shows Giovanni diTella d: <1852; his wife Celesta Musillo d: 30 dicembre 1800; his daughter Bambina diTella b: 21 ottobre 1798. Bambina diTella married Emiddio Gatta b: 1 dicembre 1795, m: 7 aprile 1817, d: 22 novembre 1861. The 1852 Status Animarum (film image number 3579) lists Emiddio Gatta and wife Bambina diTella. Bambina's father is shown as Francesco diTella and her mother as Celesta Musillo. The archives called him Giovanni and the SA called him Francesco."

Based on this research, I rate the connection that Gene found as very high probability.

I've connected him to a father with the birth name of Domenicantino because that is the person with a similar name who had father of Luigi. The mother of Giuseppe is different than Antonio's other children. I cannot find a marriage record of any of these possible marriages to help clear this up. Antonio's age of 32y in 1855 would point to a birth about 1823 which is when Domenicantonio was born. This must be the right connection.

email from grandson, Bill Frazzini, Jun 2010: "Dad told me that his father worked construcrion mostly pick and shovel. Had something fall on his leg. Amputated. Fitted with a wooden leg which a small  model about six inches was made and we had for years. Don't know what became of it. Grandfather eventually became a shoemaker and had a shop on the ground floor of the tenement in which the family lived. I'm almost certain the address was #6 Sheafe St. in the North End of Boston. A block away from where I grew up.
I only knew the site as a variety store coffee shop. And I frequented the store for years without knowing it was once grandfather's shop.
Don't know why dad never talked about his prior family life  before marrying mother. And uncle John and aunt Fily never did either. And none of us kids to my knowledge ever asked. Very strange indeed thinking about it now."

My name is Joanne R. Milner, and I am from Salt Lake City, Utah. My Great-Grandparents, Pasquale Mariani and Marianina Carlino Mariani were from San Pietro Avellana, Italy.

Pasquale Mariani immigrated to the U.S. in 1893, and worked for about eight years as a laborer on the railroad and then returned to Italy. He married his cousin Mariannina, and once again came to the U.S. in 1902 via Ellis Island where he was discharged on pier as a Citizen of the U.S. My Great-Grandmother Mariannina came to the U.S. a few years after in 1906 with her 3-year-old daughter Stella, and her mother Rosa. They were headed to 169 1/2 South West Temple in Salt Lake City to meet their husbands Pasquale Mariani, and Paolo Antonio Carlino. Pasquale and Mariannina Mariani had 11 children, eight who lived to adulthood. My grandmother Matilda Elizabeth Mariani, was born January 2, 1909 at 165 Rio Grande Street in Salt Lake City. She was their third child. When Mariannina Mariani died in April 1920 - just 2 weeks from giving birth to her 11th child (Viola), Pasquale was left a widower with eight children. He temporarily placed the children in St. Ann's Orphanage for a couple of weeks, but they cried for him, and he for them. They were reunited as a family, and Stella, the eldest daughter who was married to John DeGrazio, adopted her newborn sister (Viola) as raised her as her own child. She also helped to care for the other younger children, Emmedio, Rosie, and Paul.

My grandmother Matilda was just 11 years of age when her mother died. At the age of 15, however, she was introduced to Antonio Furano by a family friend Fannie Mastroianni. Antonio (Tony) Furano, an Italian immigrant from Savuto Cleto, Province of Cosenza, Calabria, came to the U.S. in 1913. He was working as a chicken butcher in the kitchen at the newly built Hotel Utah in Salt Lake City, where he later worked for nearly 45-years, and became a renowned Soup/Saucier Chef.

Matilda's father, Pasquale Mariani, and her elder sister Stella Mariani DeGrazio, arranged for her marriage to Antonio (Tony) Furano, August 25, 1924, by L.D.S. Bishop Graham. Just a few months afterwards, however, Pasquale Mariani died from throat cancer in October 1924. The Mariani children, Stella, Lena, Matilda, Emmedio, Louise, Rosie, Paul, and Viola remained best of friends and loving brothers and sisters till their repsective deaths.

My mother Giovanna Fortunata Furano Milner, was the 3rd of 4 children born to Matilda Mariani and Antonio Furano. She married Ralph R. Milner, March 12,1948, and they are the parents of six children.

In March 2000, Giovanna Fortunata Furano, her husband Ralph Richard and four of her children, Sheran, Joanne, Ted and Sam, traveled to Italy and visited Savuto Cleto, in Calabria, Italy where Antonio Furano was from. Since then we as a family have sought our family history and genealogy, and last year discovered more information on the Mariani and Carlino family lines. Joseph Wedo Dellacroce of Longmont died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at Longmont United Hospital. He was 84. Formerly of Colorado Springs, he was a resident of Longmont since 1989.

Mr. Dellacroce was born March 25, 1922, in Pikeview, Colo., to Peter (Domenico) Pasquale Dellacroce and Concetta Lucia Iasella, both of San Pietro Avellana, Italy.

He graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1940, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1941 as an aircraft mechanic and was honorably discharged in 1945. Mr. Dellacroce married Deva A. Kennedy, his wife of 53 years, in Castle Rock on Aug. 3, 1946. She preceded him in death in November 1999. He retired in 1980, with 30 years of service, from Civil Service Maintenance Division, DOD, Fort Carson. Mr. Dellacroce and his wife enjoyed traveling. He also enjoyed remodeling, construction, spending time at his cabin in the mountains, gardening, family time and golf.

He is survived by two daughters, Myra Dellacroce Giersdorf and her husband Gary of Longmont and Marcia Dellacroce of Broomfield; four grandchildren, Daniel Giersdorf, Andrea Giersdorf, Wade Wilgus and Ruth Wilgus; and a brother, Rayme Dellacroce of Colorado Springs.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, June 27, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 1500 Ninth Ave., with the Rev. Dr. Curtis Minter officiating. A reception will follow at his home in Longmont. Crist Mortuary is handling arrangements.
