Giuseppe Frazzini (I4963) [Male] d. ABT 1946
Info from Nino Carlini Jul 2007: "Was a prisoner of war during WWII. Died shortly after returning to SPA."

email from grandson, Maurizio Carlini, Dec 2012: "Giuseppe Frazzini's parents were Michelangelo Amico Frazzini and Concetta Colaizzi. There only offspring that my mom knows of is her father Giuseppe. Michelangelo spent most of his time in Youngstown Ohio working at a tire factory and never really got to know his son Giuseppe. By the time Michelangelo came back from the states Giuseppe was off to war. Giuseppe's military unit was captured in Africa where he spent several years as a POW. When he returned to San Pietro my mother was actually a little afraid of him because she didn't know him. He died shortly after at the age of about 40 as did most of the men in his unit."

Gives date of death as 25 Sep 1948.

The Colaianni Brothers donated money to SPA to build a Kindergarten. This building is shown in several postcards from SPA.

Info from Shirley Sinclaire, Dec 2004: "This was my fathers relative and godfather...Joseph S Colaianni, was a contractor, and actually the family was in the railroad business and some were in the sanitation business in Chicago. Joseph died in Paris in 1948 on the way back from Italy. Joseph and his brothers brought a lot of the men from SPA to work on the railroads, etc. They had their own business - Colaianni Brothers Contracting..when some of the brothers moved to Chicago, there was another partner, can't remember his name off-hand. Joseph received honors from Italy for his work in his paese and for other Italians."

Info from Shirley SInclaire: "On Ellis Island manifest for September 5, 1912 on the ship Princess Irene from port of Naples, there is a Giuseppe Colaianni age 32, traveling with his wife Maria 31, American Citizens as of Dec. 6, 1911, Livingston, MT. Currently living on 28 Mulberry St, NY, NY. in 1912. Found again, traveled in September 9, 1923 on the Ship Conte Verde, at age of 43, with Maria 43 and with daughter Bernice 8, living at 450 Temple Court, Minneapolis, MN."

In 2015, I learned of a bust of Giuseppe which was made before the War and installed in the kindergarten (Asilo) in SPA. That bust survived the War and is installed in the second Asilo.

Obituary in the Salt Lake Telegram, 1 Jun 1936.

Former Laborer of Railway Dies
Domenico Di Pierro, 87, former laborer for the Southern Pacific company, and resident of Ogden for more than 40 years died at eight-thirty o'clock Saturday evening at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mike Riche, 2681 Lincoln avenue, of infirmites of age.
He was born October 1, 1848, in San Pietro Avellana, Italy, a son of Andonio and Andonietta Gatti Di Pierro. He was schooled in Italy, and worked as a railroad laborer there before coming to the United States in 1892. Denver was his home for a couple of years, and in 1894 he returned to Italy, staying a short time. He again came to America, landing at Montreal, Canada, where he remained about three months, coming on to Ogden in 1896, and this has since been his home. He retired in 1922 on account of age.
He was married in Italy, his wife dying there 28 years ago. She never left her native land. Mr. Di Pierro was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church. Surviving are one son and one daughter, Amedio Di Pierro and Mrs. Mike Riche, both of Ogden and four grandchildren. Funeral announcement will be made by the Kirkendall-Darling mortuary.

Maria diCianno (I5040) [Female] d. 14 Jan 1915 San Pietro Avellana, Campobasso, Italy
Transcribed 1846 SPA birth records of daughter Maddalena.
From John Mariani's Life Story, he remember great-grandmother Pasqua. So this might Maria Pasqua. He remembered the date of death as the day after the Avezzano earthquake. From Internet sources "An earthquake on 13 January 1915 shakes southern Italy. The town of Avezzano at its epicentre is completely destroyed. The death toll is estimated to be at least 30,000." So she must have died on 14 Jan.
