I was so amazed by this website, i didn't know that the di Vecchia family was so big, its very exiting to know about my family tree, I read about the mancini family and about the diVecchia but I can't find where my grandfather fits in or I didn't read about him in this site, or maybe because he came to Aruba no one knew about him, but we are the only diVecchia in Aruba, my Grandfather has 3 sons and 3 daughters, and 16 grandchilderen, 23 great grandchilderen.

My Grandmother, Vincenza Della Croce from San Pietro Avelanno, was married to Generosa Colaianni and had two boys. Generosa died of pneumonia very young and she was left a widow. Her father, Dominic Della Croce, came to the US and made a marriage match with Ambrose Carlino (also from San Pietro) and then she came to the US and married Ambrose. My two uncles Colaianni were Teodoro, who died at the age of 21, and my uncle Adelmo who died at age 65. My Mom who is 93 remembers these details and that is where I've got this information. Perhaps this doesn't help you in any way, and then again we may be distant cousins. Oh, yes, we are all from the Pittsburgh, PA area.

Anthony and Yolanda (named after the queen on the olive oil can) were brother and sister. The German nuns at the school changed Yolanda's name to Viola. They added the middle name Deloris when she was confirmed. Yolanda Viola Deloris Frazzini Cucinelli was born on March 23, 1917 in Freedom. She didn't like the name Viola so goes by "Vi". Violet Bango didn't like her name either so went by "Red". Thanks for the quick response! Jake

email from great-granddaughter, Kristen Bins-Castronovo, May 2011:"Good morning from Youngstown Ohio! My name is Kristen Bins-Castronovo and I recently started an account at ancestry.com to trace my roots. I wanted to thank you because I came across your website and it really helped me to build my tree! My grandmothers roots are from San Pietro. In the research I did, I found that her father, Erminio "Herman" Labate, was the son of Francesca Carlina and Sabatino Labate (as listed on his death certificate) Your extrensive research filled in the history from there! Thank you so much for helping me discover more. I am still puzzled about her mother though? Antoinetta M.......Grandma told me her maiden name was Ditullo (possibly DiIullo) however, her sister Amy's death certificate lists the maiden name as Musilli."
