email from Shirley Sinclaire, Jun 2008: "Salvatore Magnolo (Mognolo/Magnalo/Magnoli) born Nov 24, 1888 in Sogliano, Italy (Sogliano, Alessandria, Piedmont, Italy (Northern Italy) and most likely married Florina in San Pietro Avellana, Molise, Italy.  She stayed behind when Salvatore came to America to his friend Giuseppe's (Joseph) house and made a permanent residence in Minneapolis, MN, working for the railroad (The Colianni family were contractors for the railroad and brought over many paesani to work on them).  Wife  in SPA Florina, children are Maria, Rosina and Giuseppina... they settled at 3429 Central Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN.  We lived at 34th and Taylor which was just a few blocks up.In 1920 his wife Florina was still in San Pietro Avellana (Florina Frazzini born 1894?), Italy when he arrived in USA, going to my grandfathers family (cousin), Giuseppe Colaianni (Colianni) at 3641 Architect NE, Minneapolis, MN.  Salvatore was about 5'5" tall, natural complexion, brown hair and eyes and was originally born in Sogliano (Sogliano Cavour), Italy. (he did not make this ship, however, he made a later ship and in 1924 he is listed and also resides at the address at Architect.) He DID arrive Dec. 13, 1920 (age 32 - Salvatore Magnoli) with many others from SPA, but they went to Denver. "

Most (but not all) of the Rusciolelli's in what I will call the Illinois line (Bob Rusciolelli being the one I work with most closely) are descended from a Basilio Rusciolelli and his wife Marianna Antonacci of S. Stefano di Sessanio. Basilio's grandson Biagio Rusciolelli married in 1819 in nearby Rocca Calascio to a Giudetta Daniele, and settled there, raising his children in Rocca Calascio. You are very historically correct (and perceptive) that there was an exodus from S. Stefano in the 1820-40 period. This occurred, I am quite convinced, due to fluctuations in the nature of the sheep trade that governed the commerce and livelihoods of the people of these two towns. Note that Rocca Calascio and S. Stefano were both higher altitude settlements within walking distance of one another, and both prospered beginning in the 1500s as "specialty" providers of black wool to the Vatican and to the Catholic Church. The black wool of this area was highly prized. The French occupation and Napoleanic era was not kind to the region, beginning with its anti-Catholic sentiments and ending with the looting of so many of the area's churches. As a result, "business" fell off, and migrations began to occur.
2. Your investigation of the Rusciolelli lines from SPA reveals an exciting connection for my research, in that I had not been aware of the alternative spellings (Rossarelli, Ross) used by what I will call the Colorado-SPA line. I have a large number of "stray" Rusciolelli names in my databae which upon brief inspection of your file can be connected using your data. I haven't sorted it all out, but it seems that some current (living) of these family members reverted to Rusciolelli, while others use Rossarelli.
3. It will take a little work to merge our respective files on Michelangelo Rusciolelli b. 1793, but he definitely was born in S. Stefano to Saverio Rusciolelli, and most likely grandson of Moise Rusciolelli as you noted. The death of his first wife M. Francesca Colaiezzi in 1823, and his subsequent remarriage to M. Grazia DiCiccio in 1826 both took place in S. Stefano, as did the birth of several of his childrn by the second wife, and then for reasons unknown (see my speculation above) he moved to SPA around 1840. I think this whole area needs further research Your reference to Giasmina (possibly Gelsomina) needs more exploration, as Floridio (citation for her father) is a far stretch from Michelangelo Gregorio. Here you need to consult the S. Stefano microfilm in detail to answer the mystery of her birth."

The processetti for this marriage provide a birth record for him on 7 jun 1787...documented. Now, Maria Francesca Colaiezzi dies 5 oct 1823....documented. However, I get a marriage record dated 5 aug 1826 for a Michele Angelo Gregorio Rusciolelli, born 4 april 1793, son to the same parents as the Michelangelo born on 7 june 1787...documented in the processetti of the marriage to a Maria Grazia Cicci. The problem that has me so very frustrated is that this Michele Angelo Gregorio is said in the marriage documents to be the WIDOWER of the Maria Francesca Colaiezzi who died 5 oct 1823!

The above data leads me to strongly believe that the Michelangelo born 7 jun 1787 died at an age before he could marry, and it was the son born 4 apr 1793 who was the one who married Maria Francesca and subsequently the lady Maria Grazia Cicci."

For some unknown reason the De Sanzo's from Homewood and the De Sanzo's from Koppel were never very close when I was growing up even though there are deep roots."

Loree Patricia (Buzzelli) Clark passed away on December 14, 2009, in her home in Homewood, Pennsylvania. Loree died unexpectedly in her sleep at 67 years old.
Born on May 25, 1942, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, Loree was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Elaine (DeSanzo) Buzzelli.
She is survived by her daughter, Autumn (Clark) Eaton and son-in-law, Alexander Eaton, of Crested Butte, Colorado, and her sister, Carole Funkhouser and brother-in-law, Jay Funkhouser, of New Brighton, Pennsylvania.
Loree was a 1960 graduate of Beaver Falls High School. After graduating with a B.S. degree in Education from Slippery Rock University, she returned to her hometown to teach health and physical education at Beaver Falls Junior High School. She married in 1968 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and served as the postmistress in Telluride, CO, where her only child, Autumn Dawn Clark, was born in 1971. Loree and Autumn returned to Homewood in 1973, where Loree managed the restaurant and bar at the Beaver Falls Holiday Inn and later became a real estate agent.
At the time of her death, Loree was employed as a front office receptionist in the medical office of her brother-in-law, Jay L. Funkhouser, M.D. She will be sadly missed by the many she greeted each day and her loving "office family."
Loree led a very active, free-spirited joyful life. She was an avid equestrian and enjoyed riding with her daughter in the hills of Pennsylvania and in the mountains of Colorado. Loree was an animal lover, and she owned and cared for many horses, dogs, and cats.
Loree will be forever remembered as Aunt Ree by her nieces and nephew, Liza, Lorraine, and Jay. She took great joy in spending time with her great-nieces and great-nephews, Jay Funkhouser III, Leigha Funkhouser, Margaret "Maggie" Brady and Charles "Charlie" Brady. Aunt Ree enjoyed the time she spent with her extended family on vacation, especially skiing in Keystone, Colorado and sunning in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Loree was a member of the Beaver County Humane Society. She was also an active member of the Homewood Heritage Foundation where she headed various committees throughout the years, and Loree regularly volunteered for the Homewood Fire Department bingo nights.
The family would like to thank the following family and friends who had a special relationship with Loree: Alan and Sandy DeSanzo, Mary Alice Jones, Stella Leonardo, Joe Leonardo, Mary Kay Evans, Kristine Usselman, and Mary and Joe Buzzelli.
There will be no visitation. All are welcome to attend a memorial Mass for Loree (Buzzelli) Clark that will be held on Saturday, December 26, at 11a.m. at Holy Family Parish in New Brighton with Father Thomas Kredel as celebrant. Following the Mass, there will be a reception for family and friends at Shakespeare's Restaurant in Ellwood City from 1 to 3 p.m. to celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Beaver County Humane Society.

Generoso died of pneumonia very young and she was left a widow. Her father, Dominic Della Croce, came to the US and made a marriage match with Ambrose Carlino (also from San Pietro) and then she came to the US and married Ambrose. My two uncles Colaianni were Teodoro, who died at the age of 21, and my uncle Adelmo who died at age 65. My Mom who is 93 remembers these details and that is where I've got this information. Perhaps this doesn't help you in any way, and then again we may be distant cousins. Oh, yes, we are all from the Pittsburgh, PA area. "
