Mario DiVecchio passed away on September 22, 2021 at home. Born in 1929 in Sant' Eufemia a Maiella, Italy. He was the son of the late Raffaele DiVecchio and Mariannina DiGiovine. Mr. DiVecchio was predeceased by his beautiful loving wife Angela who he adored and cherished. Mario was united in marriage with Angela Taranto on October 9th 1948. They celebrated 54 years of marriage together until her death in 2003. He worked in the steel mills at Jones and Laughlin in Pennsylvania before moving to Michigan. He also worked for the Grand Truck Railroad for several years before being employed for the Macomb County Department of Roads until his retirement on February 16, 1990. He was a fourth degree member of Father Kramer Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed watching cowboy shows, going to the casino when he was able, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with family He will be greatly missed and forever and always be in our hearts. He was predeceased in death by his brothers Anthony and Vincent DiVecchio and his sister Maria Felicia DiPietrantonio. He is survived by his children Mario (Mary) DiVecchio and Linda (Ken) Neeson. Visitation Saturday 4-9pm and Sunday 1-9pm at with a 7pm K of C Rosary at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc. 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Pkwy. (16 Mile). Instate Monday 9:30am at St. Isidore Catholic Church 18201 Romeo Plank in Macomb, MI. until 10:00am Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.

Americo John "Umber" DiGiovine, of Hopewell Township, passed away Monday, two days before his 85th birthday. John was incredibly gregarious with an engaging sense of humor. He will be remembered as someone who tried to make friends with everyone he met. He is sorely missed by his many friends and his family who loved him dearly.

In passing, John joins Mary, his wife of more than 50 years. His survivors include daughter, Maureen Follett and her husband Bill of California; son, Rob and his wife, Martha of West Virginia; grandchildren Magic Follett, Dan DiGiovine, and Chelsea Follett; sister, Dora Maly; numerous nieces and nephews, and a good friend, Ursula Erb. He was the son of Pietro and Eufemia DiGiovine and brother of Dan DiGiovine, who have preceded him in death.

Other than his service during World War II, John was a lifelong resident of the Aliquippa area, growing up in West Aliquippa. He worked as an accountant, retiring from both Koppers Chemical and Rheem Manufacturing. For years, he volunteered with his employee credit union and helping seniors with their tax returns. Until he had to give it up, John was an avid golfer and hated to miss a Pirates or Steelers game. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, where he served as an usher until his health failed. After retirement, John took great pleasure in attending reunions with shipmates from the aircraft carrier USS Suwannee. He was a radioman and a proud "plankholder" for the Suwannee, meaning he was on board the ship from its first cruise. The ship first saw combat off North Africa but spent most of the war in the Pacific. During the Battle of Leyte Gulf, the ship was badly damaged in the first kamikaze attack of World War II. John was forced to abandon ship and spent many hours in the sea before being rescued by a destroyer. After returning home, he studied accounting at Robert Morris College. He learned bricklaying, which he put to use building his own home in Hopewell Township and helping friends and family members to build their houses. In recent years, John and three good friends, James D'Antonio, Tony Loschiavo, and Tony Akoorie, could be seen breakfasting at local restaurants. They styled themselves the Romeos, which they said stood for Retired Old Men Eating Out. John spent his last year at Beaver Meadows assisted living facility where he received superb care and, of course, made many new friends.

Family and friends are being received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the ANTHONY MASTRO FRANCESCO FUNERAL HOME 21st and McMinn Streets, Aliquippa, where a prayer service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church with Father Howard Campbell officiating.

Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The Beaver County Special Unit will conduct full military honors at 11 a.m. at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made, if desired, to Our Lady of Fatima Church, in memory of John.
