Josephine (Jo) DiCianno was called home to heaven on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Jo was born in Youngstown, Ohio on March 8, 1923 to Christi and Filomena DeLorenzo. On July 15, 1946 she married Girlando (Gerry) DiCianno and moved to Ely and resided here until her passing. Jo was a homemaker and also had a daycare business for many years, in which at some point she babysat almost everyone’s kids in town. She was very active in the Catholic Church and was a member of the Ladies Guild and was well known for her efforts in selling dinner and raffle tickets contiguous with other fund raisers supporting Sacred Heart Catholic School. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerry, her Mother and Father, her sister Lena Tognarelli and her brother Tony DeLorenzo. She is survived by her 5 children, Sister Sandra DiCianno, Michael DiCianno, Christine McDonald, Angela Holloway and Mary Hardiman, 10 Grandchildren, Melanie(Jordan), Jeff(Jodie), Penny, and Nichole(Chris), Gina(Charlie), Bridget(Jason), Johnny and Peter, Michael and Anna, and 8 Great Grandchildren, Nathan, Reagan, Wallace, Collins, Ayla, Brayden, Emmett and Jayden.

A Rosary and viewing will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mountain Vista Chapel. The Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Graveside services following immediately after. Pallbearers will be Jeff Frates, Michael Hardiman, Johnny and Peter Holloway and Charlie and Jason Watson. Honorary Pallbearers include Romolo DiCianno, Richard DiCianno, Larry Zaccardi, Tony DiCianno, Joey Tognarelli and Mark Anderson.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Youth Group or the Youth Religious Education Program – PO Box 151026 – Ely, Nevada 89315.

Our Mom was best known for her homemade bread and dinner rolls that everyone loved and she handed out as you stopped at or passed by her house. She always had a little Italian saying for her Grandkids and the children that she watched when it was naptime …she would tell them to “Fa nah nah” which means “time to rest/sleep”…so with all of our Love Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, “Fa nah nah”.
