I remember when I was a young boy The Settefrati family’s arrival to America. My grandfather Arthur Colaianni introduced them to our family and to America. Paula’s sister Marcella and I became good friends as well. That was in the 1950’s. All these years later after their arrival from San Pietro Avellana we are still friends. At the funeral I met Frank Frazzini who is a distant cousin from that same town. I am connected to the town by way of the Colaianni, Frazzini families. I have cousins in Youngstown and Pittsburgh area in the Colaianni line.

It’s a small world and from the outpouring of love from so many at St. Francis Borgia Church where Paula and Marcella are members and where Paula taught for many years up To the very day on which she died Jan.  10, she made a difference in the lives of her students, neighbors, colleagues in education and certainly her family. Her niece Tina delivered a moving eulogy at the end of mass which demonstrated that love. May she Rest In Peace. Arthur Colaianni III"

Settefrati, Paula G. Age 67, passed away suddenly at her home on January 10, 2020. Paula was the dearest daughter of the late Onelia and Giuseppe Settefrati; loving sister of Marcella Settefrati and Maria (James Conner) Gagliano; beloved aunt of Jeffrey (Heather) Gagliano and Tina (Craig) Gagliano-Mandell; great aunt of Alexander, Caleb, Aurora and Grayson. Paula worked as a school teacher at St. Francis Borgia Catholic School in Chicago. Visitation will be Friday, January 17, 2020, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. Funeral services begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home, and will then proceed to St. Francis Borgia Church in Chicago for a Mass at 10:00 a.m. The entombment will follow at St. Joseph Mausoleum in River Grove.

They were not close and I am not sure if they ever actually met, but they did correspond from time to time. My grandmother was the first in her family born in the States and did not visit SPA until after Onelia had emigrated. My grandmother did meet Onelia’s mother, Elisabetta Mariani, when she visited SPA in the early 1960’s.

Again, I am sad to hear about Paula passing. I have seen photos of her when she was a little girl living in Chicago and I thought maybe I would meet her someday."

O.P. "Jim" Forman, an army combat veteran and devoted husband and father died on February 24, 2009, at the age of 84. Jim was a man who cared deeply for his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. A man of few words and many witticisms (Ely-isms), Jim spent his leisure time doing what he loved, hunting, fishing and golfing. As a member of the Elks for 58 years, Jim not only served his country, but his community. A decorated veteran of multiple combat tours, Jim performed heroically when his nation called him to duty.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Orson P. Forman Sr. and Bessie Forman and his brothers, Lyle, Cloyd, Milton and John Forman. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean (Jena Settefrati); sister, Maureen (Jack) O'Mealy; son, James (Lynn) Forman; daughters, Linda (Steve) Bennett and Sue (Blaine) Branscomb; grandchildren, Jeff, Kathy, Julie, Marcus, Amanda, Adam and Hannah and great-grandchildren, Samantha, Allison, Jacob, Zachary, Megan, Riley, Veronica, Audrey, Olivia and Oliver. A memorial service was held on March 2, 2009, at the Mountain Vista Chapel in Ely, NV, officiated by his longtime friend, Father Caesar Caviglia.
