She met Eugene Kent Erwin in Durham, they married on April 27, 1945. They made their home in Grand Junction, Colorado in 1947. Carolyn was a devoted member of the American Lutheran Church, Past President of the ladies Elks Club, a talented artist and a member of the Brush & Pallet Club. She enjoyed eternal wins in many card games such as Bridge and Pinochle and dominated family of all ages in cribbage. Carolyn moved to San Diego, California in 2004 to be closer to most of the family and enjoy a warmer climate in her last years. She went to her Lord on Saturday, February 21, 2009 and is survived by a sister, Margarite Vaughn in New York; four children, Karen Rigg, Kay Kadish Kett (Joe), Peter Kent Erwin (Laverna) and Kirk Eugene Erwin (Vicki); nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Carolyn is dearly missed and will be celebrated for her angelic spirit by loved ones forever. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the 2754 Compass Dr. Suite 326 Grand Junction, CO. 81506. Please join her family to say goodbye on March 16th, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary (2515 Patterson Road) followed by her burial at Memorial Gardens.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Pine River Cemetery for Alfred Brooks Churchill, who died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at his home in Bayfield. He was 85.

John Ragsdale Jr. will officiate.

Mr. Churchill was born July 14, 1917, in Los Angeles. He worked in the aircraft industry for 40 years and retired in 1984. He was a member and deacon of San Gabriel Union Church in San Gabriel, Calif., and after moving to this area in 1985, he became a member of the Pine Valley Church of the Foursquare Gospel in Bayfield.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Churchill of Bayfield; two daughters, Connie L. Churchill of Buffalo Grove, Ill., and Judy C. Bowman of Waco, Texas; a granddaughter, Alicia Butler of Austin, Texas; and a grandson, Tony Churchill of Buffalo Grove, Ill
