Alfonso di Sanza d'Alena

D’Alena’s family is originating from Apricena (Puglia, province of Foggia). Here lived in 1597 Berardino. At the beginning of XVIII century the family went in Frosolone (Molise) where had the Lordship of that place with Donato d’Alena. He had five sons: Nicola, first-born; Domenico Antonio, second-born and Dr. D. Girolamo, priest and synodal judge in Mariconda’s synod (1727); Dr. D. Giuseppe Antonio, priest and synodal judge in Mariconda’s synod (1727) too; Dr. D. Francesco, priest. Nicola created the line of Barons of Macchia d’Isernia (line extinct with Celeste - d. 1938 - who spouses Earl Frisari di Bisceglie), while Domenico Antonio created the line of barons of Vicennepiane, Bralli and S. Martino. The last Baron of this line was Giuseppe Antonio Raffaele Giovanni (b. 21 June 1847, d. 1 March 1924); from his union with Domenica Mariani di Sanza were born Maddalena, Ledoina and Alfonso Gaetano di Sanza d’Alena. Alfonso, landowner, was appointed as Giuseppe’s sole heir (1925) and he was the last owner of Vicennepiane’s fief. By Alfonso descend the actual family di Sanza d’Alena living in S. Pietro Avellana and Vasto.
Collateral lines of d’Alena’s family, actually, live still in Frosolone; about Frosolone’s line we can remember: Luigi d’Alena (1815 - 1903) President of Corte di Cassazione; Pasquale, Francesco, Cav. Pompeo, Frosolone’s mayors.
