Prospero Frazzini | Cesare Frazzini | Felicito Frazzini | Antonio Frazzini | Crown Hill and Mt. Olivet Cemeteries | Site Home |
Many people from San Pietro Avellana are buried in Crown Hill and Mt. Olivet cemeteries. In the past, Mt. Calvary was also used but it has been closed (in 1950) and all the bodies were moved (many to Mt. Olivet). Here is the web site of the Denver Public Library which talks about the cemeteries in Denver.
Unless otherwise noted, all of these photos were taken by me in Jun of 2010. I did not have enough time to find all the Frazzini nor did I have time to search for other SPA surnames other than what you see here -- next time.Frazzini Family Plot Across the front are the four brothers - Prospero, Cesare, Felicito and Antonio. Behind the angel are the wives and children. This are plots 24-23-X and 24-62-X A shot of the Angel is used in a promotional video that was playing the lobby of the Olinger Mortuary at Crown Hill. It is also included on a walking tour brochure of the Cemetery. The first burials in this plot were in Apr of 1915. That must be when the plot was puchased. The bodies of a few of these people must have been moved from other cemeteries - possibly Mt. Calvary. Frazzini moved here on 29 Apr are: Eugenia, Federico, Giulia, Alberto, and Antonio. |
Prospero Frazzini 1866-1926 (Plot 24-23-1) |
Cesare F. Frazzini 1871-1929 (Plot 24-23-2) From his obituary: "Pallbearers will be six of the city's most prominent Italian-Americans. They are Phillip Serafini, Louis Spalloni, Thomas Settefrate, Guido Mapelli, Herman Mapelli, and Michael Marranzino" |
Felicito Frazzini 1864-1937 (Plot 24-23-3) |
Antonio "Antonino" Frazzini 1869-1912 (Plot 24-23-4) He actually died in 1912. Cemetery records show that he was moved here on 29 Apr 1915. According to a funeral notice in The Denver Post, he was originally buried at Fairmount. |
Alberto Frazzini 1907-1910 (Plot 24-23-10) This is probably a son of Felicito Frazzini and Carolina deAndrea. Jerri Frazzini Bottomly had given me the name of Antonio and that he had died in childhood. Cemetery records show the burial on 29 Apr 1915 so he was probably moved here. |
Francesco Frazzini 1887-1915 (Plot 24-23-5) Buried 7 Apr 1915 Son of Felicito Frazzini and his first wife Giuseppa Dorinda Labate. According to a funeral notice in The Denver Post, he was originally buried here at Crown Hill. |
Giulia 1881-1905 (Plot 24-23-6) Buried 29 Apr 1915 This must be Julia Rollins, first wife of Prospero Frazzini. Mother of Lina and Teresa Frazzini. According to a funeral notice in The Denver Post, she was originally buried at Mt. Calvary. |
Federico Frazzini (Plot 24-23-6 the same plot as Giulia Rollins Frazzini) Buried 29 Apr 1915 I don't know who this is. The burial date suggests that the baby died earlier and was moved here. |
Eugenia "Jennie" Milano Frazzini 1884-1909 (Plot 24-23-7) Buried 29 Apr 1915 Second wife of Prospero Frazzini. They didn't have any children that I know of but see next entry. According to a funeral notice in The Denver Post, she was originally buried at Fairmount. |
Baby Frazzini (Plot 24-23-7½) Buried 17 Feb 1918 Since this baby is buried in the same grave as Eugenia, this may be her child. |
Elvira Degna Cioffi Frazzini 1875-1931 (Plot 24-23-8) Wife of Cesare Frazzini. |
Beatrice Frazzini 1911-1946 (Plot 24-62-1) Daughter of Cesare Frazzini and Degna Cioffi. |

Domenico Frazzini (Plot 26-175-3) Buried 12 Dec 1918 I don't know who this is. |
Restilda Labate Colaianni and daughter, Annie Colaianni wife of Severino Colaianni |
Vincenzo Frazzini 1873-1939 and Esterina "Ernesta" Morgano Frazzini 1877-1955 (Plots 30-199-1 and 30-199-2) |
Nunzio Frazzini Buried 10 Jun 1915 (Plot 26-66-2) This is possibly the first Nunzio Frazzini, born about 1909 in SPA to Vincenzo Frazzini and Esterina "Ernesta" Morgano. I believe that he died before 1916 as a second son named Nunzio was born to Vincenzo and Esterina about 1916. |

The Mapelli family was not from San Pietro Avellana. They were, though, connected to the Frazzini family in many business dealings.
Mapelli Family Crypt The doors were locked. This was about 50 feet from the Frazzini Family Plot. I'm not sure who is buried here but it is probably the Mapelli siblings: Giuseppe (Joseph), Ambogio (George), Armando (Herman), Rudolfo (Rudolph), Assunta and Mario. email from Pat Lauderbach, Jul 2010:
Hi Mark, Thanks for the update on your trip to Denver. I hope this finds you doing well. Things have been crazy busy here, so it has been a while since I have done any research. I'd like to get back to that soon. All of the Mapellis at Crown Hill are related. I've been inside of the outdoor mausoleum. I think my sister replaced the stained glass window that vandals broke out a while back. The outdoor mausoleum has Joseph, Emil, his son Emil & Rudolph. |
